Default unmotivated

I haven't picked up my camera in over a week. Someone needs to give me a swift kick in the rear and get me motivated. What do you do when you are in a funk and unmotivated?

Force yourself to do something you have no yet tried to photograph. What type of photography do you generally do?

I do the opposite of Murtasma. I leave my camera for a little while until I start feeling a bit more motivated. Sometimes if it's been too long I'll try to force myself to do something, but if I'm not feeling motivated, 9/10 times the results show it. I've actually been taking photos a lot in the last few weeks because there's been a lot going on in Wellington, but pretty much all of January I took hardly any photos at all, and I still haven't been doing much more than going to these events.

I'm in the same boat Nicole I actually have really been shooting much the past the past year but my inspiration is starting to pick up again. I was just trying to motivate her to try something new and different.

Perhaps I should threaten her with legal action; that may get some results.

See, this is how I feel. I don't feel like taking pictures. So why make myself bitter trying to. But I really like to take pictures, its just so darn cold outside, and I'm tired of practicing indoors. LOL!

Sometimes you get busy and need to pay attention to other things. Don't worry too much about dropping a week or two. I'm still not really back up to the level of production I was a few months ago, because I'm still in the process of relocating from one city to another.

Why not have a few days where you deliberately don't use your camera. Keep your eyes open instead (and carry a notebook); you might just find yourself desperate to get clicking again by the end of it.

Taking a break doesn't work as well for me. What I do:
  • I keep a notebook and jot down ideas I'd like to try.
  • I pick a subject and do a search on flickr to see what other photographers are doing.
  • I join a 365 group to "force" myself to think about photography everyday. Sometimes the results are not the best, but often it triggers an idea to try another time.

I set myself a challenge....

Currently it is to photograph something with a letter from the Alphabet each day. Starting A thru to Z.

Its working for me.
I got the idea from DPS, there are heaps of diff challenges on here, why not pick one???
You dont have to publish them on here, just do them for yourself.

good luck.
