Default Clichéd Images

Hello

As a newbie (2 weeks and counting!) I'd be very interested to know what images are considered photographic clichés. I actually intend to have a go at taking these images to a) get it out of my system b) gain the technical knowledge required c) for a bit of fun

My intial thoughts are:

Light trails
Water drop splash
Sunset
Sunrise
Macro of a bee (or butterfly) on a flower
Greyscale image with the subject in colour
Soft focus woman in vignette
Pets at a fireplace
A head shot of a photographer holding the camera in portrait mode
Close up of an eye

What have I missed?

Ta

Darren

dagza, Welcome

- Bathroom mirror self-portrait
- Wing of aircraft shot through window above clouds
- Old door with scabby paint
- Your feet in [shoes, or bare in a stream, grass, the ocean]
- You as multiple images in one photo

. . . and then the second day . . .

Dare I say it? Have a look at Flickr's Explore pages and that should get you a good start figuring out what cliches are out there Kittens, flowers, and sunsets come to mind

awesome thread! I'm a newbie too and I am definitely working on trying all of these cliches, lol. I think that they will be a great learning experience, and hopefully a jumping-off point for something more original!

I did the light trails one a few days ago!

My favorite, mainly because everyone thinks it's so amazingly clever the first time they see it...

A ring sitting in the crease of a book creating a shadow that looks like a heart.

The cleverness wanes quickly.

Little girl being swung
Little boy in leaves
Swimming dog
A kid blowing bubbles
Train tracks/Road converging in the distance
Baby grabbing daddy's finger
Politician from New York doing drugs with an underage prostitute

Ok, I got carried away with that last one.
