Interesting question...

I take my journal, a bottle of water, and a copper penny for bug bites.

copper penny? How does that work.

I carry the usual, extra memory cards, battery, small tripod, lens cleaner, usb cable, bug wipes. I always have my iphone with me and bottled water in the car.

I agree I love the idea of the Camo blanket. I carry one in my car, but never thought of using it for that. Thanks for the tip!!

Now about that penny!

I apologize for not seeing this before.

I'm not sure how it works. It's probably an old wives tale... but pressing a copper penny on a bug bite takes the itch and sting out of it. At least temporarily. Maybe it's a bit of mind over matter, but I'll keep doing it. Easier to carry a penny than it is to carry a bottle of anti-itch stuff.

wow.. that was ALOT of reading.. but well worth it.

me.. what do i take with me..

well.. ive only realy gone out to take photos twice. and that was only because it he rain scared me from racing in the race. seeing as i only have a P & S. i don't have much camera gear. other then a camera carry case, 16GB HDSD card and a spare battery.

but what i did take with me on both occasions that i would have died without ( maby literaly ) was a "camel back", and a bright orange reflective jacket.

this camelback has been a lifesaver for me on many occasions. i realy suggest more people buy them. its a simple backpack with a bladder and a long straw, holds anywhere from 1.5L to 3L, and you can buy additonal bladders so how much of the cool stuff u take it up to you. ive put ice cubes in it many a time and they have stayed icy cold for hours thanks to the thermos design. it weighs absolutly nothing. say when i have it full with 1.5L it would weigh 1.6KG.. so yea

heres a pic (click to enlarge to read it better)

I take my dog when I can. Sure, he is a lousy photographer, but he is very good company

He always seems to like every photo I take.
