I was just in my camera bag just now and forgot to mention something I keep in there all the time: a folded up large plasic trash bag. I generally use it to sit, kneel or lie on when the ground is wet, but it can be used to keep me or my equipment dry in a pinch. Takes up no space and has been hanmdy more then once.

Lol, I started this thread wondering what I could learn...

And the first thing I've learnt is how forgetful I am. I just went through these replies, and checked my bag for what I have. I also have a large plastic bag and wouldn't leave home with out it! Theres always a lens cloth in my pocket, for both my camera and my glasses.

Also, I have coldsore cream in my bag. Sounds silly, but as others that get coldsores know, on the odd occasion you do get one, you need to get cream on it as soon as you notice. My camera bag is perfect - always with me, and I always know exactly where it is

The other thing I keep in my bag is small Silica pads to keep everything dry. I think they need replaced as I took it out of a warm tent into the cold air on Sat night and the lens fogged up - a sure sign my silica needs replaced (anyone know where I can get more?).

You cant always believe what you read. I've had a concealed carry permit for a lot of years. Never had to use it, and pray I never do. It's still a nice felling while walking thru some back woods areas, or for those 2:00AM walks along the beach.

I'd never take the life of anything that was of no threat to me. I surf, and see sharks a lot more often then I like, but if one ever bites me, I'd not go on a shark killing frenzy. After all when you enter the water, your on his turf.

A D200 or D2Xs wood be most nice. I'll use my D80 as a back up!

I'm so used to them being in my bag I totally forgot about those!!

I usually get them from shoe stores or pharmacies. If you ask, they'll likely give you a handful or so.

sooo... I have enjoyed reading this thread, even the whole shooting thing (which I don't condone, but I grew up on a farm in Australia and have "given the good news" to my share of nasty sliding critters and one or two crows) So, I went and grabbed my camera bag and emptied it on the bed (and was yelled at for messing the place up! ) ..and I finally found my copy of Lightroom! a 1gb USB pendrive I thought I'd lost about 4 months ago and a "day planner" from the London zoo... nothing else... so now, i'm going to put in some suncream, a large plastic bag, some cold sore stuff, an umbrella, some grey card, a bit of camo fabric, a water bottle, my trusty archos AV400, some peanut butter crackers, my iPhone and notepad along with my silica pads and a nice towel, some photo pants (you always need two pairs!) a fan, some chocolate and some vaseline along with a small shark and some panther repelling spray...

That's one heck of a list.

I might add to that (if i'm in the hills) my GPS (Blackberry 8800 baby) ...and a wheel barrow!

I suppose I should add that I do keep a small notebook, pen, and plastic bag in my bag, in addition to the hand towel
