Talking

I feel I should fess up and admit I do have a pair of Photo Pants... These babys are spectacular! Waterproof, comfy and indestructible!

Lickily I can justify not adding them to my 'camera costs' as they are sooo good I actually wear them all the time (I'm sitting in my office at the moment in them).

Cactus Dreadnought WK. (Top review is mine, with the photo reference ;-) )
Washing them for the first time.

Pernod! photo pants! hehehehe

OK, now I don't feel so bad about how much I think I've spent. I won't add the new XPS710 I got from Dell into the mix since others haven't. Whew....

But I know I've spent at least $5000 to date on new photo equipment, cameras and lenses since April. Man. I need to slow down....

I have photo pants too, but it's annoying to have to take them off whenever you do flash photography.

Get it? Flash photography? Ha ha, heh, huh, ...hrm. Well, nevermind.

Pernod,

couldn't help myself -- I read your account of wearing and washing your "photo pants." What are those things made of?

as from the website, "Proofed European 12oz C-Canvas is great to wear and will last for ages" that would be thick cotton canvas.. i can see how they would hold up well, tho may be a bit warm for some parts of the world... oh, and they do have waterproofing in them as well according to the "care instructions" page. sounds like they could be fairly nice!

my main issue with them (other than the price) is that they don't appear to be cargo pants, which is a major factor for me having gadgets and not wanting to carry a Murse.

I wear tactical pants from 5.11, they are nice so far, dunno how indestructable tho, but they are made for police wear and tear so should be alright and have plenty of pockets for my gear!

how about "Take off your pants!"

Now I am curious about what these pants look like and how they work. It might be good to have if I want to walk through some creeks and what not to get a particular shot out here in the backs woods of the Front Range Mountains....

So I just went through and figured out everything I want to buy in the next five years or so:

Nikkor 70-300 VR
A Macbook Pro [not strictly for photo, of course]
Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB [I have a 1 GB now]
Whatever replaces the D200
A better bag because by this time I'll have 2 lenses and 2 camera bodies
A Nikkor 50mm f/1.8

All those together [not counting the macbook pro] should cost me about $2200 over the $800 I've spent already. Yeesh.

Hoping to buy eventually: A long long long time from now, maybe I'll get the Nikkor 70-300mm AF-S f/4.5-5.6G VR or a Nikkor 18-200 AF-S f/3.5-5.6G VR.
