Default Focus at night

You'd be amazed - I can hardly see a thing at night as I am very long sighted with a bad astigmatism... My tip for night focusing. If your taking landscapes, turn the camera to auto focus and focus on the moon, on the horizon, or on distant lights... normally one of these has enough contrast for the camera.

2nd option is to get one of the subject to hold a flashlight, focus on that, then turn of the light and shoot.

If all else fails, guess and hope. People are more forgiving in night shots. Both the 2nd two I posted above are out of focus, but that didn't stop the middle on being published in a magazine!

Being a true night owl, I should pick the second. But glare and shadows caused by the sun are harsh...

This is hard...holding off on vote button for now

I would have to choose middle of the day. I have so little experience taking photos at night and that fact alone influences my choice. I've enjoyed my little experiments of late with night photography, but it isn't enough to make me choose night over day, despite the drabness of the light during those middle hours.

my pick would be night, but I haven't had my night photography class yet, so I don't have any images to post!

there's something magical about the night...the world that comes out when everyone else is sleeping. I can't wait to learn how to take pics at night.
