A surprise visit from my sister and her new baby, my nephew Elijah! It was the first time I had ever seen him!

It's pretty fun to read what others got for Christmas. Although my wife and I focused on the kids this year, I ordered an early Christmas in the form of CS4, LR II, and a Canon 5D Mark II (ordered on 11/1 and still patiently waiting).

I received a Crumpler 7 Million Dollar bag, I was in need of extra room and I love it. I also received money, what I will spend it on remains to be seen! The best gift was spending several days with family.

Default Canon G!

Well I joked about wanting a G10 as I needed something to just grab a quick shot without all the gear to lug around. So santa came with the G10 and Iam loving it.

Default What did Santa bring you

I had an incredible gift this Christmas. Two days before the holiday my son, (father of three little girls) received a call concerning his pep test. After 5 weeks of radiation, an operation and 10 bi-monthly chemo treatments he is, right now, CANCER FREE. That was my first and best gift.
For us, I got my hubby a Wii set and he got me the camera I have been pining for, a Nikon D90...plus, additionally and most surprisingly, a Nikkor f2.8 28mm lens. My kids got me a wii game and a new monitor and now I know I am not going blind, it was just the monitor. I do not even need my reading glasses with this one. Materially it was a smashing Christmas...but heartwise, it was the best one yet!!!

DameAgs- I'm so happy for your son and your family. We received similar news on my mom a few Christmasses ago, so I can imagine your excitement.

I received a lot of odds and ends from my family and friends,

photo-related:
- Nikkor 70-200mm VR (my second lens! I feel like a pro!)
- a lens cleaning pen
- Annie Leibovitz's At Work (stuck at customs at the moment)

other:
- some new perfume
- external speakers for my Macbook
- Books: a huge History of the World book full of pictures, the latest from Post Secret, and A Thousand Splendid Suns

Best of all was the time to spend with my family and friends, and taking a break from school for a couple weeks.

Default New camera!

I got the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi. I've always had a point and shoot...so I can't wait to learn how to use the options offered by the new camera.

I was lucky enough to receive a Nikon D300 - had a D80 before, so this is a big step up. It's been years since I was really into photography, and I can't wait to jump back in - at the moment it'll have to be snowy shots since we got more of the white stuff last night! I just joined this site, and am looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts!
