[QUOTE=genielamb;346613]much like Cuchulainn my gift may also seem totally insignificant. Without going into detail let me just say that even though spread across the globe and in many different countries, I recieved my FAMILY for christmas. Finally reconnected with my dad and have started a new relationship with him. One that was destroyed through the lies and manipulation of my extreemlly controling ex. My children have realized the value of family and my daughter, who is in South Africa for christmas sent me an email today saying that she has learned now the value of family. In essence, my family is now whole and on the path to a better, closer relationship. What an awesome christmas gift!

You know what.....THAT is priceless. Those things you cannot buy but they have the most value. Merry Christmas, thanks for sharing this with us.

My mom absolutely floored me with an Alien Bee ABR800 Ringflash. I had only even sent her the link because she was making fun of my PVC ringflash when she was visiting me and I was showing her how expensive the real thing was. My little sister gave me a Gorillapod, which was totally unexpected as well.

All in all, awesome Christmas for me in the materialistic desires department!

I was left stunned by a 55-200 VR-equipped lens.

Given that I'd ask for a 50mm prime, one of the cheapest lenses around, this was...A bit of an upgrade. I'm EXTREMELY happy with it so far, though all I've done is test shots.

I'm getting a Canon SX110IS and a couple of 2GB Sandisk SD cards from my mom - the 32MB card that's included just won't be enough lol. I say getting since it's not expected to arrive until after the new year... It's no DSLR, but I'm in need of a replacement for my Sony P&S which has developed a faulty CCD. She had been wracking her brain for an idea on what to get me, so this seemed to be a logical choice. Anyways, it has manual controls, amongst a plethora of other things, so it's a huge improvement for me. I just can't wait for it to arrive!

Only things I got photography related were a copy of Light, Science, and Magic 3rd Edition. A copy of Digital Wedding Photography, and a Nikon MC-30 cable release.

Santa was good to me. I got a subscription to shutterbug, lowepro slingshot 200, battery grip and a 580EX II speedlite.

My wonderful dh couldn't wait until Christmas and presented me with a Nikkor 18-200mm last October. But Santa did bring me a Wacom Bamboo tablet and Annie Leibovitz's new book!

Happy New Year to all!

Damn, I must have done something right this year.

- SB-900
- SB-600
- Promaster Mono-pod (holds 33lbs)
- Money (i won't say how much, just suffice to say it's a solid student loan payment)
- Gift card to local photo store (probably use it towards the battery grip)

Also got an electric razor for my beard! YAY! No more manual trimming! HAH!!

Default gifts

I got a Samsung 37" HDTV. Which, if I want I can also hook it up to my computer or laptop to use as a second monitor
Trevor, my 21-year-old woke up early (actually he didn't go to bed, was gaming all night on the computer) so he shoveled the remaining snow off the back deck. My wife got some Jack & Ruby audio CD's from ZBS.com, Julie (18) got a new phone and clothes, and Colin (15) got heavy duty headhones and mic for his gaming as well as a 19" flat screen HDTV. Guess Santa was good to us in these tough times.
