Oh, helpful thing if you do go that route, is to pick up a small mouse to go with it. Mine has Bluetooth, but I opted for the "mini" 5$ Microsoft mouse... much easier than a trackpad!

If you are wanting something just to view pics and store them look into the Archos lineup
I have an old old version with CG reader 30 gig but now they have 160gig 7" screens wifi and all sorts of neat stuff for around the same price as the netbooks.
Im hoping I can update my player to one of these in the future.....

I also bought an ASUS Eee PC 904HA (H=Hard Drive/ A=Atom Processor) Same specs as "inkista" stated. I am running Photoshop CS2 and Dreamweaver for maintenance on a few websites while I am on the road. (4-5 days a week) I was sick of carrying my widescreen HP through airport security...

It is a very capable little machine, and best of all even running CS2 I get over 5 hours of battery life. If you are on the fence if this is a good on the road machine I would suggest you take the plunge. I pretty much exclusively use this machine now (using it to write this message). For heavy edits or color correction for prints I still use my other machine, but I do love this new LITTLE toy... 160Gig HD and a 160Gig external WD Passport drive, give me all the storage while on the road...

I found it on Amazon for 349 shipped.

I'm very interested in buying a netbook, but I think I'll wait until heading off to college next fall because one I buy now will surely be obsolete. My two cents is that with the prices of SD card storage these days, expandability in regards to hard drive space is not as much of a problem. You can get 32 GB SD cards which can expand the netbook very nicely. My favorite is the offering from HP, mini 700 I believe they call it.

I don't think they were meant for photography honestly.

I used one to back up images from my CF cards to a usb harddisk and for FTP uploads when I was away. Regarding image manipulation and post processing the screens usually aren't big or high quality enough.
