Default Color or Black and White

I didn't vote because there wasn't a third question "depends on the subject." I like black and white for some subjects, and colored for others. I suppose a better answer would be whatever looks natural to me.

There is no third option because it is an "either / or" poll. If you had to make a choice that is unrealistic in most situations, which would you go for. Which could you live without, if pressed?

Three or more answers to pick from would let more people chip in with what they actually do but might not be so thought-provoking.

Yup, wulf's got it It's kind of like a "if you were stuck on a desert island" sort of question... we all hope that nobody's going to be in that situation, but it doesn't stop the sort of question where you're asked to ake a single choice. And like he says, it's in making that single choice that often provokes discussion.

I'm too late to have my result counted for the poll, but it's never too late to make a statement.

I really enjoy B&W, I love the artistic and mysterious feel it can bring to the picture, since it focuses on the contrast between light and shadow which is very interesting and hard to get right.

Color however is able to capture all the small variations in tone, and can add so much expression and feeling into the shot, that it can transcend the boundaries of 2D and actually show the entire situation.

Also, on a technical note, a color photograph can be processed to B&W, but it's a one way street, so, if you shoot in color, you have the possibility of going B&W. So, color for me, I've found myself with a B&W picture that I wished was in color too many times.

You're right mikeboy, never too late to make a statement about the polls, which is why the threads aren't closed nor are the polls, so feel free to state your points on any of the previous threads
