Great question !!! I became interested in it when I was very young, I went on a class trip and my parents bought me a 110 kodak camera for the trip. I remember how excited I was when we finally got the film prcessed and had a chance to view them, only to find they didn't look anything like I thought they would. I guess that is what has also kept me interested in it all the years since then. Its the challenge of getting what you want and for me it is very challenging and sometimes rewarding.

i guess you have your parents to thank sort of..
for getting you the camera!

i got interseted last eyar.
My school offers a B&W photography.
Ever since it's been stuck in my head.
So i borrowed a camera and took the course.
Here i am taking pictures like crazy developing in the darkroom.
(which by the way i love to do)

if anyone here hasn't done some film photography, and done all the darkroom stuff, you should it's really fun and you feel so proud after you image comes out great!

As a ten-year-old, I was fascinated by the black & white photography of Bill Brandt and J.Allen Cash in the UK "Picture Post" (UK "Life" type tabloid magazine) they were very high contrast. I found out later that Brandt used a 4B pencil on his negatives to enhance the blackness. Regards, Ken

WOW! I had no idea you could pp with a pencil. I know nothing about film processing (and not much more with digital)

I guess my answer's going to be a bit weird. I actually didn't start getting interested in photography until the past few years. My cousin (who is, due to an incredibly vast number of aunts and uncles, 35 years older than me) let me use his dSLR when he visited. What amazed me was the vast range of different pictures you could take, pointing at the same subject. To add on to that, photography heavily utilizes my favorite subject--physics. Translating a ton of optics into something that is visible to everybody was pretty appealing to me, and I also hope to take pictures of physical phenomena someday, when I have more time and a strobe light.
