Hey Elay- sorry for my ignorance, here I thought this was a website for learning and teaching.. I guess what threw me was the word 'school' in the address.. Its sad that your comment will now stop some other people from posting a question, regardless if it is a 'common knowledge' or not.

The only thing I hate about the arts is pretentious *&%#'s like you..

p/s Leisa and Nicole thanx again for taking the time to lead me to what I wanted to do....

Well, I certainly didn't expect that reaction.

We have all learned by trial and error and from others on this site. I didn't mean any offence at all -- I just noticed where you were both based and had this funny image of you guys an hour apart, exchanging these elaborate messages. I probably should have expressed myself in those terms rather than talking about efficiency.

I thought Leisa did a great job walking you through it (and, in my own defence, if you look around you will see that I have helped people with Gimp stuff from time to time on these boards), and I was glad to see that you mastered the technique in the end. I'm sincerely sorry if you took my comment as reflecting on you in any way -- it really wasn't intended this way, and I hope it hasn't soured you on the boards.

As a PS I will say that I really like that this forum is free of the snotty comments you see on other photo forums, so I feel quite bad about making you feel like you got that kind of treatment here. I honestly didn't mean cause offence.

Wow JJ T.!!! That is some reaction there. I must stand to Elay's defence here and say that I would never have imagined anyone taking his comments that way. It always came across to me as a bit of fun about his observation of your proximity to Leisa, and that the post was a very detailed tutorial (extremely well presented by the way). I think your being very harsh on Elay and I hope these boards can still allow a bit of a joke without fear of receiving such a response. At the risk of receiving the same, I might even go as far as saying 'lighten up!'

Well don't I feel like an ass!! I thought you were making reference to my 'remedial' learning skills lol.. I myself didn't realize that Leisa was in southern ontario, so you can see where my error is by thinking you were being an - what was it again? oh ya pretentious %^&$.... So now I understand what your comment was meant for..Unfortunately with "type" you don't always get expression ( you could have written it with a smile while I took it as a snarl)..I am a recent member to this site and your right - I haven't seen any snotty remarks or ridicule but that doesn't mean there couldn't be a first. So you have to forgive me for thinking you would be such person.. So with that being said - lets start off on a better foot; after of course I take it out of my mouth..

  1. Create a new file with a transparent background.
  2. Type out your copyright information (it doesn't matter what size font you use at this point, the brush will resize later).
  3. Add a drop shadow (use the layer style button and select drop shadow) and lower the opacity of the layer (lowering it to around 50-75% should be good).
  4. Crop the picture so that there isn’t a lot of extra room around your copyright (Select around your image using the rectangular marquee, then select Image -> Crop).
  5. Save the file as a brush (Edit -> Define Brush Preset). Give your brush a name like "Copyright" and save it.
  6. Select the brush from the brush pallet, then use the brush to stamp your copyright over your picture, change the opacity or colour if you need to, then save your picture as a new file and upload it to the internet however you want.
Hope that helps, if you need any of the steps explained better, let me know
These instructions were great!! Thank you so much for posting them!
