Default Very frustrating - Raw to jpg in CS2 loses EXIF

I know this might have been asked a zillion times here but I really need a way to keep the exif intact when I open my NEF (Nikon's RAW format) files in Photoshop CS2.

I do save them using "Save As" option and not "Save for web" option, but the exif is lost completely.

Please help.

Thanks.

None at all at this point. What is your workflow to get from camera to jpg? How are you importing, are you converting anything, is there anything else that you can think of that might account for it? The most info I could find is that if you're importing through the Nikon software it can sometimes screw up the exif in a way that makes it unreadable (at least it was a problem that some people noted with CS1).

Thanks for replying Nicole. Well my problem is not losing the exif when I use Nikon's PictureProject application, but when I open the RAW file directly in CS2.

EXIF is intact if I export the RAW as jpg using the PictureProject.

Since RAW files have larger scope to edit I try to open them directly in CS2. After doing my edits I "Save As" jpg. When I upload to flickr or just "right-click" and check properties I dont see any exif info

Would you mind sending me one of your raw files? I can see if i can keep the exif data intact. I assure you i won't use it for anything but what i just described.

Prince, i got your NEF file, i checked to see if there was any EXIF data and there was none. Not one bit of info on your NEF file. So it it useless for me to convert it to JPG and try and save it.

Not sure what happened here, but somewhere between your camera and moving it to your computer all the EXIF data was lost.

just for your piece of mind, i deleted the photo from my computer

Thats really weird. I am looking at the exact same file. Right-click -> Properties -> Details tab. I see all the exif data.

I am using Vista, if that helps.

interesting.

how do you upload?

i use the photoshop elements uploader. There is a box which you may need to tick.
i think it says "template to use?" and there is an option for "basic metadata"

I uploaded RAW .NEF files last night and they did have the exif.

have you loaded the standard nikon stuf that came with the CD?
i dont know if it makes any difference. my upload was actually still the same after loading the software.

Good luck

My NEF images don't need the .xmp

I'm using XP here, shouldn't make a difference.

EDIT: Did you do anything to the photo before you sent it to me or is straight off the camera?
