I'm chris, I live in England (Birmingham) and have been interested in photography since I was 7-ish (i'm 14, so its not too long a time!)
I have a canon 350D and I love still life and landscaping, but i have started to dabble in other areas now too, such as astrophotography.
I joined this site so i could learn more and improve my technique, cos i am that kinda person.

Red face Hey

I am an amateur lucky enough to have a husband and mom buy me very expensive gear: I have a 20D, a couple of decent lenses & one awesome 200-400mm Image stabilied lens that is great for taking action shots of my boys playing lacrosse. Now my daughter is competing indoors in cheer events and I need a lens that will help me capture the action quickly to avoid streaking & blur. Any suggestions?

Just joining in the fun! Been interested in photography for a while but never did anything with it. I consider myself a total beginner but I love to learn, even at the ripe old age of 48. I live here in New Jersey. My current camera is a Fuji FinePix S5200. I know I have a lot to learn and I know I can count on all you here and this great site for that.

Kippy Hi Chris! Nice to have you aboard. I've been enjoying your pics and contributions, hope to see more.

hgmerkSYT4F2 You do have some nice equipment! Post a question about lenses in the "Digital Photography Equipment and Gear" section and I'm sure you'll get some answers!

Kpclark1959 Welcome to DPS! We love to help beginners, so you've come to the right place. Looking forward to seeing some of your shots here. Lovely Aruba bird, BTW.

DeeDeeLoh Hi DeeDee! With a young son you have a nice built-in model, at least when he decides to cooperate! Post some pics of Malaysia for us.

Hey everybody, my name is Rehan. I am a student, finance is my major. I started taking pictures, when my mother bought me a cheap Diana camera... (I think I was 10 yrs old at that time) but as I said I was just taking pictures.... I took basic photography class in college and, phew... it changed the way I used to see the pictures. I made an A in that class and later on registered for adv. photography and did well in that class too. I switched from film camera (canon AE-1 and later Nikon N 2020) to Sony P-200 and now I have bought a Nikon D80. I remember when I bought my Sony P200; I took 200 pictures just in one night. And the day I got my D80, I took more than 200 pictures, again in just one night. The digital technology is just amazing; I believe it has changed the way we use to take pictures. As Thomas Collins said, “now release of shutter is just a beginning... “

Default Hello

I am John McTarnaghan and I am 64 years young. I got into photography about 5 years ago. I started with Kodak digital then went to a Canon Powershot S1 and finally made it to dslr. I now have a Canon Rebel XT and assortment of lenses. I go from 28mm to 500mm. I have Canon, Tamron and Sigma. My passion is landscape and wildlife. I also enjoy taking photos of the Grandkids sporting activities. I am looking forward to chatting with other photographers.

I'm Lucian and I've been doing photography for many years. I started out in high school as an apprentice to a studio photographer. I got to see the inner workings of a studio and was a second camera on weddings.

I travelled the world for 20 years courtesy the US Navy. Then in '90 I was able to start a second career as a photographer/lab tech. Now I'm getting into videography. It's not as much fun as still photography.

In two years I get to make a second retirement. At that time I plan on activating my B&W darkroom and getting back into medium format. In the meantime I'll do digital. This month I bought an Olympus E-Volt 500 to supplement my E-20N and my daughter's E-Volt.

I use Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements 5.

Rehan Hi Rehan! I see you got your D80. Nice camera, I'm sure you'll love it! DOn't forget to try an assignment with it. Can't let that nice camera sit idle!

jmctee John, I see you have a Tamron 28-75. That's a lens I have, too, and I use it as my walkaround. How do you like using it?

Lucian Looks like you have a nice background in photography. I hope you'll post some of your shots and I'm looking forward to you joining our discussions.
