Hello,
I am Dharmesh. I would like to say I am a creative person. I am into web/graphics design and want to learn photography. I have learned web/graphic design but havent got into full time. I want to learn about photography since these 2 interests of mine can do wonders together. It can also be my 2nd career.

I came across DPS in google and have found it as a wealth of resource for both. I hope to stay on and learn more from everyone around while contributing as much as possible in any way possible.

Thanks
Hey Prince, Welcome! - I hope you had some of your business questions answered on the forums today?..

My name is Amelia and I am from Wellington, New Zealand. I have recently bought myself a brand new Olympus E-410 with 2 lenses and am having lots of fun playing with it! I am always interested in learning new things and developing my technique. My aim is to be able to sell some of my photos in the not-too-distant future (mainly because I am going back to Uni next year and will be a poor student again!)
Will be good to get some extra tuition and to be set some extra challenges. Look forward to chatting to you all.
Amelia, Welcome to DPS!.. I Hope you are enjoying the Olympus?

Hi,

I am Jane. I live in Avon Park, Florida. I am retired and having fun. Most of the time. I have been using a Fuji point and shoot for the last 4 years. Some of my photos are great, then the rest are so-so. Some just plain throw aways. (or Deletes)

Since reading this forum and the blogs, I find I have learned more than was possible. Guess I just didn't know that much anyway. Most of my digital knowledge is self learned by working with the camera and reading the manual over and over. Almost have it memorized.

Thanks lots for this site.
Hey Jane!.. Welcome... You have almost memorised the manual, ok, quote page 12...go!.. heh.. elcome to DPS, I'm sure you will find some interesting tips and some good people on here to help you along.

Hello,
I am Kim & I just bought the Canon Rebel XTi at Costco that comes with 2 lenses. I also have a Panasonic Lumix FZ7 which I LOVE, but it's been difficult catching all the ice hockey shots of my son that I want. I have been begging for the Canon for 5 years now & I finally got it for my 40th BDay. I have been taking pictures all my life, but have NEVER taken a photography course, so I have a lot to learn. Hoping to gain a lot of insight through this site.
Thanks.
Kim, Welcome!.. I have a similar canon nd love it to bits!.. I still have loads to learn. Happy 40th! what a great present.

Hi, my name is Jim and I am a expensive hobby junkie!

Born, Raised, Wed, Kids, Divorced, etc. in Kalamazoo, MI with no desire to leave.....unless I won the lotto and then it would be off to the Rockies somewhere.

Got a BS degree in Engineering Graphics and work as a salesman for a local lawn, garden, fencing, horticultural, bird feed, etc type store. I use to do IT admin stuff, but the desk job was making nuts. This job is more hands on, get dirty, etc type job.

Have two great daughters, 8 and 11 who are active is travel soccer, other sports, travel dance teams, etc.

My camera obsession began back in 1987 when my dad went out and help me find my first camera......a Minolta Maxxum 7000. Used that for many of years and then it finally had a issue in the late 90's and I didn't get it fixed. Didn't have a camera for years and then just after Minolta announced they were getting out of the camera business I jumped back into the camera world with the Minolta Maxxum 7D with my old lenses. I loved this camera, but it was plagued with the dread first frame black syndrome. After a couple repairs I dumped it for a 30D.

I mainly used the 30D to take pictures of my kids and their doings. Then I stumbled upon a class at the local Art Institute about Landscape Photography, taught by a local known artist........who coincidentally just retired from the school where my kids went/go. Well, I was hooked after that on Landscape photography. Right now cause of costs, I just shoot stuff locally.

My other hobbies include; Woodworking, Yard Work (yes I know, I'm sick in the head), building scale WWII aircraft replicas and Computers/Gaming

Current Gear:

Canon 30D
Sigma 70-200 2.8 (my most used lens)
Canon 85 1.8
Tamron 17-50 2.8
Manfrotto Monopod and Tri-pod

and a HP 9180 that I can't afford the ink on right now.
Jim, Welcome to DPS.. Well, you and I share the same Canon, so expct questions the 70-200 is a very versatile size lens.. I think I am about to get a new "walkaround" lens. I do IT Admin sortof now too... not an engineer though [I just break stuff!] I lok forward to seeing your landscape shots on here, and, your local shots too... Yard Work - you're going to have to explain to me how that's a hobby ...and gaming!... and building models!.. you are one busy bloke. Welcome to DPS - Drop me a pm if you have any trouble working stuff out etc..

That goes to all you guys!.. welcome aboard
Sime

Prince Hi Dharmesh! Nice to see that you've been sharing your shots with us. Always glad to have a new contributor here.

Anakiwa_forever Welcome Amelia! Sounds like you're really enjoying your Olympus. Hope that your wish to sell some of your shots works out for you. I know what it's like to be a poor uni student! You've got some nice shots on flickr .

mj_pires Mario, your English is excellent, certainly nothing to apologize for! I like your creative shot in the Fragility assignment. Well done! Looking forward to seeing more.

maz2001 Jane, I congratulate you for reading your manual reading! It's amazing how much you can learn from them. There is so much to learn about photography, you'll never know it all but it sure is fun doing it!

Kim2WA Hey I got my XTi at Costco, too! Not too many of us have taken an actual photography course here either, but it's amazing to see how much you can learn online at places like this. Hope we can learn from each other.

Jim Fox Expensive hobby junkie, oh yeah, I know what you mean! Particularly tough when you have kids. Lovely landscape shots you posted. I guess I guy that likes being outdoors doing yardwork would like landscapes .

HELLO.

I'm Bob, I like taking photos, I'm introducing myself.

I have a Canon 400D, two canon lenses (18-55mm and 50mm), a couple of polarizing filters and a tripod. That's about it. I've also just discovered the wonders of shooting in RAW after having my camera since february (though I've been into photography for about 2 years).

I'm really trying to improve my techniques and the such, and an acquaintence linked me here, so here I am, here.

This is my flickr account:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-love/
which right now, the front page is filled up with photos of kangaroos from when I went to australia in the summer. I tried to get them at different angles to most of the photos I've seen of kangaroos.

So, yer, I look forward to taking part in some assignments and getting some critical feedback!

Hello!
Hmmm... what to say... Well Obviously I love photography. I have loved it since High school when i started with a film camera. Then since I couldn't afford my own Slr I stopped. Lol. Then recently I figured that not being able to afford a camera wasnt gonna stop me so I used my point and shot digital. My hubby saw I was very interested in the hobby so he bought me my first DSLR for my birthday this past year. Best husband ever might I add! Lol. I am a Proud army wife. Mother of a 2year old tornado aka daughter. I am from Chicago but I am living on a military base in Washington state. I hope to learn from everyone!
Feel free to stop by my Flickr page

Default Hello Everyone

Hi
This is Raghu and a new member here. I have been a subscriber to Darren's newletter for quite some time now and enjoying it. Decided to join the forum as well.
I belong to the southernmost state of India called Kerala (a.k.a God's own country) but my work has kept me away from here most of the times. I make it a point to spend some time during vacations in kerala. Presently I stay with my family in Hyderabad, India.
I have been hooked to photography for quite some time now, but it got into my head almost 2 years back.
I shoot with a Canon 400D (aka Rebel xti) and a canon 70-200F4L. I love shooting nature, birds, butterflies and sunrise/sets.
Please find my amatuer work here in flickr

Default Another Newbie :)

Hello everyone! I found this site last night and signed up right away. I'm totally new to this, but where better to learn than here, right? Short bit about me --- professional actor turned teacher due to family heath issues. What can I say? There's no place like home? lol

Anyway, I'm teaching in a small private school and was informed that I was the new Yearbook/Journalism teacher. Since I'm fairly creative, it was not a daunting task to be assigned. Problem is this --- I know basically nothing about photography. I know what I think is nice/pretty/strong, but technique... I have none.

Just reading last night and this morning, I see that I have sooo much to learn. BUT I'm ready, willing, and as able as I can be. My personal digital is a little HP, but I do have limited access to a Sony SLR. I plan on investing in a good SLR during the holiday season.

Enough about me. I'm just glad I found this place!
