Hello,

My name is J sanders. After i got married (oktober 2004) I bought a Canon G6. An high end compact digital camera. My father had the G5 which was an good camera and I thought, why not buy the G6.
Not long after that my brother in law bought a Canon 300D. He let me take a few shots. That's it I was sold! I began to see the disadvantages of non SLR cameras and the Advantage of SLR cameras.
So November last year (2006) I finally made my decision. I bought de NIKON D80 with the 19-135 kit lens. Since then I started reading Dutch magazines about photography. And also looked for interesting sites on the web. I found out about this site about one week ago and i found very good advises and tips on this site. I must say that I really like it.
I have been practicing on taking pic's for almost one year now. And I have some pictures online on album.sanders-albek.nl
I hope to learn a lot more about photography and to buy a lot more accessories for my D80!

J. Sanders

Hi, I've been taking photo's since I was 13 (now 37) but only seriously for the last 4yrs. What I mean by "seriously" is taking courses in photography, joining a camera club and taking several thousand photo's (gotta love digital!!). I tend to go through phases whether its months on end of happy snaps of the family or a particular subject (looking forward to the total lunar eclipse in August). I still have a lot to learn but I'm enjoying the journey.
PS: it's great reading about what others are interested in.

Hello,

My name is Terry, my nic here is FF151. I have finally bit the bullet today and updated my P&S to a Nikon D200 with 18-55mm F2.8 and 80-200mm F2.8 nikkor lenses.

I own a training company that has written a book on health and safety. I plan on using this camera to update our pictures and our website. I also plan on using it for leisure too

I am also a firefighter, this is me a few years ago. Cheers all!

My name is Richard and I have wanted to get back into photography for a long time. Film photography got to expencive for me years ago so I had to quit for a few years, about 25 years ago i guess! Time flys!
Anyway, I bought a Cannon Rebel XT a year and a half ago and have been building my Lens colection during this time. I have a lot to learn and thats why I'm here, and now it dosent cost me anything to throw away a picture or make a mistake, I'm loving it. I just started a new set on skaters, because in my community skaters are looked at as criminals!
These kid have a lot of talent and gut's to do the things they do on skate boards. This winter I have been invited to display my work at the public Library, so right now my life is about skaters.

ff151 Terry, nice kit you got there! Is that a self portrait? We have some other firefighters here, both current and past. Welcome to dps!

RESmith Richard, glad to have you join us. Amazing how many people started with film, dropped it because of expense, and now are back to enjoying photography again with digital. Can't wait to see your skater shots!

Thanks Sara,

That pic was from a fund raising calendar we did. We raised approx. $25K specifically designated for childrens charities.

Hi there

My name is Bas and i live in the Netherlands.
Yesterday i found this site and forum. I've been photographing sinds Art school and never stopped sinds then. Reading al the tricks on the blog/site/forum was like a back to school moment.

This flash from the past made me realise i could learn much more about photographing. So i registered, introduced myself and hope to develop better skills and maybe maybe share some own advise

My gear:
Nikon D40 a Canon IXUS 850 IS (PowerShot SD800 IS) and a shared nikon d80 both nikons with kit lenses. Planning to buy a nikor 18x200 af

Some photos on my Flickr-page:

Smile Dumb but keen

I have always been interested in photography as a means of recording events and special occasions. One of the first things I bought with one of my first paychecks was a little instamatic camera. I had that camera for about twenty years before passing it down to my kids!! (That must be a record!)
I now have a 6 megapixel digital camera. I don't know much but I'm very keen to learn. Recently I decided to take some photo's of the area in which I live. We live near a river mouth so there are loads of interesting subjects to photograph: beaches, boats, fishermen, birds etc.
I will definitely be posting some pics on your forum for critique and look forward to learning how to improve.

Hello, my name is Sharon and I have been dabbling in photography since the mid-1990s. Recently I got back into and word got out so now I am offering my services slowly but surely. Within a week I have booked a Senior Portrait Session, A DayCare session and a wedding! I love the "natural shots" - mostly outside and the subject just being themselves. Of course I will have to do some posed shots as well but I know I can do it. I have a rather basic digital camera - a Kodak C643 but I like the photos it takes for now. I do my photo manipulation in PaintShop Pro and I am in the process of downloading GIMP as I type this (saw it mentioned several times). Look forward to getting to know all of you and I love seeing all the photos..... I hope to be HALF of what all of you are one day!!
