... well being strictly correct, that would be The Netherlands.
Never mind the internet nick, my name is Els. I am somebody's partner and mom to a girl now eight years old. I go to college and work part time. I have always been interested in various forms of creative expression, nature and different cultures across time and space. A couple of years ago I took our point and shoot camera and started some sort of visual gratitude journal. It evolved from there and I recently bought my self a DSRL to take my hobby to the next level. I mostly take pictures of my family, nature and things that surround my daily life or strike me as being unusual. My current set up is the Canon EOS 500D; 18-55mm kitlens, 50mm f1.8 mark II lens, Tamron 55-200mm lens. |

Hi, my name is Alex. I live in Switzerland. My first camera was a bellows contraption found in my grandfather's attic 47 years ago. It shot rolls of 6x6 black-and-white film, so far as I remember. All these years, I have been an "unthinking" hobby photographer. Since going digital, I am trying to learn photography somewhat more seriously, with a view to not making a fool of myself with my new shiny Nikon D700
.Professionnally, I am an academic teaching in medical school. |

My Intro stuff:
Real name; Peter, from Glasgow (UK) age 52. Photography in one form or another has been a hobby on and off for most of my life, though I never had what I call "the eye" for it. This didnt stop me however and just go through life with an "am enjoying myself" attitude. With digital, I began making 360° panoramas, though I would like to develop in other areas,,,if even just to see if I can find this elusive eye thing that keeps escaping my attention. |

Hi, I'm Elisha, I live in Arkansas in the US. I started out taking pictures of my kids when they were little because I hate the "Wal-Mart" type portraits. I have always had a point and shoot but recently my husband got me a Nikon D3100 for mother's day because people started asking me to take pics of their kids and I just love to take pictures. I've got a lot to learn to say the least but I've picked up a lot just from reading posts on here and DPS facebook posts. I would love to have some photography friends on flickr and anyone to critique me on some of my wildlife shots. Thanks for all the info you all share!

Hello, My name is April. I'm from the Detroit area in Michigan, and I'm in my early 30s. I'm a photography novice, a few years ago my husband bought me a Nikon D60, and while I took an "adult ed" class on how to use it, not much sunk in.
I'd like to improve all aspects of photography, in particular composition, and get better with manual and priority settings. I've been reading the forum and the beginner tutorials here and it's giving me a lot to think about. I'm looking forward to practicing and getting some posts in the "critique" forum. My other hobbies are Crafting (knitting, sewing, etc.), cooking/baking, and gardening. I'd like to take better photos of said products, which would mean improving both macro photography and people photography. Looks like I'll have to get my flickr account back to pro levels! |
