Default Hi Everyone!

Hi everyone! My name is Melissa, and I am pretty new to photography compared to a lot of people on this site. I was a photographer (if you can call it that) at an Olan mills studio about 2 years ago. I loved it, but I was not really allowed to be creative. I have a canon powershot SX120 IS. There are so many things I want to learn. I would like to master this camera before moving on to a DSLR. Most of my photos are of my kids, but I really like still like and would love to learn more.

Default New to the forum

Hi,

I came across the forum whilst searching for some information to help my daughter with her A-level photography course. After reading some of the threads I kind of forgot about my daughter and kept reading

As the username name implies I'm Kev, married with 3 children. They are all over 18 so that makes me old I work in the nuclear industry and photography is my way of unwinding.

I've been into photography since the mid 70's starting with Canon FTB-1 film cameras and then gradually adopting the Canon digital bodies. I now shoot with a Canon 1D MkIII, 7D and 40D with a range of lens from 8mm fisheye upto the Canon 600mm prime lens.

I love wildlife photography mainly because of the challenge of getting a good photography without disturbing the subject and also for the peace and quiet there is when you are out in the hills.

I'll photograph pretty much any subject matter as long as I find it challenging At the moment I'm into high speed flash photography for water droplets and also long exposure star trails.

Post my intro

Hello everyone,

I have always been the "designated camera guy", although my only "training" derived from a high school Journalism club.

I found this site about a week ago searching for a photoshop tutorial, and, ultimately perused the photography section and forums. Having kids and taking pictures go hand-in-hand, so right now I'm aiming to take my snapshots to the next level. (Many people dread Manual mode due to the settings; I actually enjoy tweaking the settings, in hopes of getting a clear shot with low noise.)

Otherwise, I'm a college-educated man who is self-taught in Photoshop - and, usually undergoing some type of project, lol.

See you around!

Smile Wonderful Opportunity, and the Ghetto Studio

Hi all! Great to be with you here today. I wanted to share with you what can be done with very little in the way of fancy equipment and studios. Take a look at my Face Book site - you'll find me under the name Marcus Armstrong.

Look for my wife's profile under my Friends - Rebecca Scott-Mason. Her profile picture was taken at home. Go to her pics and look under the album Ghetto Studio! You guys will crack up.

Those who are interested in how I achieved this can contact me.

While you are reading this, check out my website - onlyinoz.com for a new and exciting opportunity for you to revolutionize your life!

Thanks again, and great to be here!

Default Hello everyone!

Hi, I'm Jay from Malaysia. I'm currently working as a process engineer in a multinational manufacturing organization here. I've almost always taken pictures and snapshots during any outings or functions that I've been to. It used to be normally an exercise in point and shoot, mainly. However, I'm now beginning to think of ways which can help me improve the end product of my photography (composition, telling a story visually, subject matter, lighting). I hope to learn and improve (which I think is possible, seeing the wealth of information available here), and sharing what I know as well.

Currently I have an Olympus FE-340 PnS, and a Canon EOS 450D with the 18-55 kit lens. Thanks, and its nice to be here. Take care!

Hi, I'm Beccah. I've always had an interest in photography. I loved taking photos with my father's cameras as a child, and got my own camera in my early teens. Since then I've been through a number of point and shoot models to take pictures of holidays, family, etc. Now I'm looking to get into it a bit more seriously, as I have wanted to for a while and not made the time.

So I've bought myself a Nikon D60, and I'm going to do my best. I'm hoping that photography will also help me gain inspiration for my fiction writing. I'm also hoping that my eldest daughter (she's four next month) might join in with taking a few pictures (she has a chunky kids camera of her own).

So that's me. I'm really open to any tips for a SLR beginner, any pointers at all.
