Hello everybody. I'm Navneeth from Chennai/Madras, India, and completely new to photography. I've wanted to take pictures of every scene that interested me, but I was able to get hold of a camera only about a month ago. It's a Canon Powershot S3 IS. I hope to learn and share techniques as much as I can in discussions on this board. You can have a look at the few pictures I have uploaded online at http://www.flickr.com/photos/bunch_of_photons/.

Cheers!
I'm Susan from Beaverton, Oregon, USA. I've always enjoyed taking pictures, but when I acquired my N70, having a nice camera made me think a little more about what I was doing when the camera was in my hands. Soon I became a fixture on the sidelines of my daughters' soccer games, camera on monopod, always striving for that perfectly framed, spectacular action shot (got a few).

While shooting my girls playing soccer really got me started, I like to photograph just about everything I see. Lately I especially like shooting flowers. I’ve been seeing many varieties of birds at my feeders lately, so I want to try my hand at some bird photos.

I now have both a Casio EX-S600 P&S (my "purse" camera), and a Nikon D50 with a few lenses. The N70 no longer sees much use. I'm thrilled to have found DPS, and expect to grow considerably as a (strictly amateur) photographer from all the knowledge so generously shared on this site.

Default Greetings from North Idaho USA

I am a semi retired second generation photographer. My father was a Brooks Institute trained photographer. I was taught by my father from my earliest memories, had my first photo lab in my early teens, and worked mixing chemistry in a studio/film processing lab. And was selling my work while still in Junior High school. As a young adult, I worked for a Master photographer in Utah, and in about an 8 year period photographed an estimated quarter million students. in both individual and group photography. I leaned portrait printing during that time. After that to semi recent I ran 3 different portrait studios, a camera shop, and frame and mat shop, got involved in building and servicing computers, and working in graphic arts.
About 20 years ago I decided to move to the mountains of North Idaho, to finish raising my family. We built our own log cabin, lived off the grid and learned to appreciate the heritage of our founding fathers.
Now, my sons are grown, and I am teaching several junior girls photography, both film and digital, and for the last two years they have moped up blue ribbons at the county fair. I am a rebel by nature, enjoy doing it my way,my privacy, and appreciate the beauty God created.
I will try to lend my support to your group here. Mtn....

Missionbeachgirl (Susan)- Oregon is such a beautiful state, you must have a lot of lovely places to use your camera. I see you've already posted some terrific beach shots. Welcome to dps!

MtnTopRebel- Nice to have you join us here. I'm sure you'll be able to add a lot to this forum with your extensive background. Looking forward to your opinions and advice!

Ok, it's probably high time I made a post here. The only reason I haven't before is because I'm no good at talking about myself.

But I'll say one thing; this forum and everyone here have been nothing but a big help and a great source of information & inspiration. I actually got linked to this site after checking out a photography blog on Yahoo a couple of months back. Been here ever since.

And in a short period of time, I've gone from knowing absolutely nothing about photography to worrying about things like 'aperture' and 'composition' and adjusting curves in Photoshop! I still have a very long way to go but I reckon as long as this forum is around, I'll be aaite.

All hail DPS. Long may it reign.

Peace & love,
-Raj-

Default Hello all

My work brought me to Connecticut, but I'm from all over (grew up a Navy brat). The Canon XTi capabilities and pricing finally convinced me to retire my faithful AE-1 and make the jump to digital this year. Since then, my wife and I have picked up another XTi body (so we don't have to take turns) and are growing a collection of lenses. My cat is the only willing portrait subject in the house at this point and he must be approaching "most photographed cat" status by now... I still have lots to learn, and have only just started fumbling with photoshop elements and flickr. I've already found some good tips here and hope to able to contribute a little as well.

Hi - I'm Dean.

Jarrol is a little village in The Gambia western Africa where I lived for a few months, I came to talk about it so much it has begun to stick as a nickname....

Photography for me is just a light hobby, i'm just learning and taking things really slow. I scored a Canon 300D second hand from a friend at work and am going through the processes of figuring out what to do.

At the moment I've only got the standard 18-55 lens but will be looking at some new ones soon.

I live in Queensland Australia, and am an IT support technician. I also work voluntarialy as a Motorsports Chaplain at the local Drag strip and Qld V8 Supercar events. I guess this gives me an opportunity to shoot some car and motorsports shots since I have a pretty well all-areas access to the events.

my blog is http://jarrolspot.blogspot.com and there's a link to my flickr account from there.

cheers

Ribkaje - Raj - Well. it's about time you introduced yourself! Glad you enjoy yourself here. We enjoy you being here, too.

Richard - My husband and I did the same thing (bought another camera). Sharing is nice and all that, but not with cameras . Nice shots you've posted so far.

Jarrol - Dean - Nice sports action shots on your blog! Welcome to dps and I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done with the cars.
