Default Introduction

Hi my name is John Stacy and I've been an investigator for going on 10 years. My experience has not been with photography and I have a current client that is requesting such service which brings me here. I'm looking to learn a few things such as what type of digital camera I should use along with how to when to use it. I also wouldnt mind sharing my exerience minus the "on the job photos" in some cases. I look forward to blogging with DPS and other users.

Hi every one
I'm Debbie from Sale,Victoria in Australia.

I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember.
Photograghy is a hobby that consumes me with varing degrees depending on where my life is at the time..
I had taken some beautiful shots that I am very proud of . I have taken a few really nice ones at weddings and for a while now am have been the photographer for our local Rock n Roll club the "Lakeside Rockers" on a voluntary basis..

I have taken lots of photos of my friends at dance competitions and also just having fun.
I am having trouble with white balance in some dance halls so have to perfect this..

I love editing photos and am still very new at learning photoshop. I use a much simpler program at the moment that just does the basic- crops, red eye, clone etc

I have a Canon EOS400D. The two lenses I use are a Canon EFS 17-55mm and Canon 70-300 mm. My flash is a 430EX speedlite.

I love portraits particularly closeups and catching people on the spur of the moment.

I love black and white and also like the technique of adding a splash of color back into the shot( still learning how to do this too I love Macro but haven't tried that yet.

That's on my list as well.

I am fascinated with the trend at the moment called "Trash the Dress" that explores the bride and groom doing a second photo shoot in much more relaxed manner; days or weeks after the formal wedding. Photos are taken at the beach, under, in water, in forests, in caves,on horseback, in junk yards, climbing under a bridge... You get the idea... It's truly fascinating. Some ruin the dress but mostly they don't; it just a very relaxed and free medium.

I am very much still at the beginning of my learning curve and look forward being part of this forum.

What sup everybody, my name is Peter and I reside in Socal. Although I have been following DPS email subscription for almost two years starting from my junior year in high school I just recently found enough money to purchase a starting D40 recently as a freshman in college. Majoring in graphic design and hopefully get into the work field with some sort of job that integrates photography and graphic design.

-P.

Hi, my name is Alina, I'm from Cluj city, Romania. I am tacking pictures since 2002, but only one month ago I got my first DSLR camera - Nikon D90, with 18-105 mm lenses.
I never posted before, ever on eny forum, so I hope I don't mess up with this one.

I hope I can show you my photos and get back any comments you fill like , critiques also good or bad, I joined mostly because photography books are pretty expensive and I want to learn to take good and great photos.

Default Hello

Hello everyone,

My name is Rebecca Johnson and I'm a senior electronic media major with minors in graphic design, studio art & theatre. I've loved photography for years but have just recently gotten into more advanced photography but I'm definitely still learning.

I'm using a Sony DSLR-A100 with both the standard and the 75-300mm lenses. I want to upgrade to a Nikon and get some additional lenses soon but I've got to save up the money for it first. I also have a really nice Lumix DMC-TZ3 point & shoot with a 10x optical zoom and it takes really great pictures, I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to buy a p&s.

I'm currently working on building my portfolio and I'm thinking about eventually starting a business one day but I have a lot more to learn and experience to gain first.

I'm enjoying all the discussions and tutorials on here and am really excited to learn and share some more!

Default Joined DPS in September

I live in Plano Texas and have been involved in the digital evolution since 2004 with my first digital camera, the Canon Elf. I am now retired and recently bought a Nikon D90 with 50mm F1.8, 18-106mm kit lens and sigma 70-300mm. Haven't posted again since my second post in october which was promptly deleted when I posted too soon. I love DPS and spend hours sometimes looking at the pix.

Default Hello All!

I am Yolanda, I live in the Portland, OR area - I've been reading DPS for several months. I got my first digital SLR this past summer (Canon T1i) and it has changed the way I shoot. I'm trying desperately to get out of "snap shot" mode and get more creative with my subject matter, and this site has given me so much inspiration for new ideas and techniques.

I haven't posted anything yet, but perhaps soon.. for now, I have been trying a daily photo blog which forces me to shoot and post every day. Although I'm only a few days into it, I'm discovering that I might actually adopt this new habit!

Giving it a shot...

Peace!

Default Hey there

Juju here. Living in northwest Florida panhandle, also known as the Redneck Riviera, but of course, like many other current Floridians, I'm a Yankee transplant.

I'm an English teacher at a small state university, and I could never draw or paint, but I love to take pictures. I started with my mom's old 35mm SLR when I was in my teens, graduated to a Canon AE-1 in my 20s, then kind of lost the love as the busy-ness of life took over.

Fast-forward to earlier this year, when I got my Canon EOS Rebel XSi, took an online digital photography class, and fell in love all over again. Thanks to the gift-giving season (i.e. my birthday), I'm accumulating a nice array of lenses. If anybody has any good ideas about storing gear at home, I'd love to hear them. Currently, everything sits in a hodgepodge of bags on my desk--not the best solution.

I ADORE DPS and have already learned an incredible amount of useful tips, techniques, and ideas for future shoots, and looking forward to learning lots more. Also turning all my photo buddies on to DPS.
