Hi all;

I'm Tim O'Donoghue from the Seattle, Washington area in the Pacific Northwest. Photography is an avocation for me, and I try to get out as often as possible to practice.

There is a small gallery of my recent photos on Pbase http://www.pbase.com/tjod Comments, criticisms and suggestions are always welcome.

Looking forward to learning more about photography and to see some of your works and techniques.

Best regards,

Post Nebbie

I'm Tami, I live in rural Western Australia. I've taken an interest in photography as a hobby as well as advertising my horses. My first camera as a child was a little Brownie. I still have a few of the photo's I took with that . Now I have a Konica Minolta DiMage X31 and the more recent addition of my dad's Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S75. He forgot to send the USB cable for it so I've yet to retrieve my photo's from it!!

Photographing horses is an art form. They are truly difficult to capture. I love the invention of the digital camera as out of 100 shots you take only 5 will be good. It's amazing how many photo's I've taken of the horses with their eyes closed.

I've subscribed to the newsletter months ago and have joined here today. I'm looking forward to learning this craft and producing some excellent results. I prefer to take landscapes etc, but I need to learn to take action shots of these horses! If they would only hold still longer.... lol!! The seach has been on for a new camera that's equiped to take fast photo's of these horses, but the mind boggles with all that's out there. I hope to get lots of advice as to which camera would suit me best.

Love the site. The advice and lesson's are easy to understand and apply. Couldn't ask for more!

Cheers,

Tami

Red face Hello!

Hi all!

My name is Evelyn and I'm in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am, as usual, in over my head with all of you. But, I do love my little camera! (Kodak EasyShare DX4330) Is it me or is Kodak a not so popular camera around here? Just wondering. They recently upgraded their software and I am quite pleased with it.

Anyway, I'm a newbie blogger and the digitals are essential now. So, any tips I can get from you experts will be great! I hope I don't annoy anyone!

Welcome everyone! We're so glad to have you join us!

Tim- you have some beautiful shots. It would be so nice to see some posted here so others could see them easily. I'm sure you'll get great comments .

Tami- I know what you mean about only a few shots out of 100 will turn out. Works that way for children, too . Thank goodness for digital over film!

Terry- I find photography relaxing, too, even when nothing turns out the way I expected!

Evelyn- you are not in over your head. The whole point of this forum is to have a comfortable place to ask questions and post your shots no matter what level you are at. Lots of beginners here and no, you won't annoy anyone !

Stephen- have you got some interesting pictures in Iraq? We have another photographer (higabyte) here that is also in Iraq. Have a safe trip home!

Trishie- just go to the section you want to post in, for example, "Critique My Shot". At the top you'll see a box that says "New Thread". Click on it. Presto! New thread !
