My name is Kimberley.. New to this site and forum. I have always had a dream in photography, and I have pulled that long forgotten book of dreams off of the shelf, with the label, "save for later", and dusted it off and stumbled upon this dps page, and here I am..at the moment I am using a digital concepts camera, 9.33mm. Saving up for a fuji finepix. any tips for a beginner, that would be great.. I don't know where this road will lead me, but I expect that the shots along the way will be awesome..

Default Hello!

My hubby got me a Canon XSi for my birthday this year and since then I have been taking pictures non-stop. I'm teaching myself slowly and patiently. I've seen tons of beautiful photos in Flickr which inspires me learn more. I would love to learn more on taking portraits which is a bit of a challenge for me. And this forum is very informative and helpful for newbie people like me. I love reading all the tutorials from knowledgeable and friendly people.

Anyway, I'm originally from Philippines but now living in Texas, US

Hi! I'm sjlarue short for Steve Jones from Laruuuuue OHIO! (Town Joke) Our town is so behind the times, the Amish (Old World) put in our phone system....Now the question is how do you get DSL from a string and two cans....

But I LOVE IT! Small town America. Where the wedding of a husband and his wife are truly for life. The traffic is only stopped by two stoplights and a East/West train. Where I can see a kid misbehaving and remind him that I know his dad...and he stops misbehaving. Where the church that I go to has 150 people...and I know every one of them on both a first and last name basis...and they know me...and their children(even the ones that I have seen grow up) call me "Mr. Jones"(although to be honest I much prefer Steve. )

Where If I want to know anything that has happened in the past week, I only need to go to the store and with 75 cents, I go buy a pop and just stand back and listen...Or go give a pint of blood on a Saturday afternoon.

Where My barber's name is Mark and his wife and kids I have known since before he was my barber. My butcher's name is Jim (he owns the grocery store too) and his 20+ year old son...is one of those that calls me "Mr. Jones".

I'm at least 20 minutes from anywhere and would not change a thing. If I leave in the morning this is my view:

Why would I move somewhere else?

If you own a Honda...thank you for feeding my family.

Anyhew, that's me.

Oh and I own a D300 and several pieces of decent glass to get me by, Photography is skill and an eye for what looks good. Luck has no part in it. A good photographer only needs a body and a lens. High priced glass (over $2K) is for people that need to buy another Honda (Pref a CR-V)... Birds, quadrupeds, flowers, landscapes, and the occasional wedding for a friend are what eat up my hard drive space.

Default Maala

Hi, my name is Pat and I live in North East Ohio. The only place in the country that gets less days of sunshine than the Pacific Northwest. Anyway, have been interested in photography for about 16 years. I started out with a Pentax point and shoot, the first one that would take pictures in both panoramic and regular size. Needless to say, this was a film camera. I then got my first SLR a Nikon N70, which takes great pictures, finally progressed to a Pentax digital point and shoot. I just recently, like this past week got my first digital SLR, a Nikon D5000. I hope I can get some tips here on this forum.

I enjoy taking pictures of the outdoors, and just being outdoors. Take a lot of pictures of my dogs, Maala and Bruce too. So, I hope to get to know some of you here and I am sure I will get to see some great pictures. I always enjoy seeing what someone else has done and learning how they did it.

Hi there, my name is James and I'm from Antipolo City in the Philippines. I've been interested in photography since I was in highschool. I started out with an old Pentax 35mm semi-automatic camera. I've been using DSLR's since November last year starting out with a Nikon D60, then I moved up to a Nikon D90.

I mostly enjoy Landscapes. Landscapes will always have more patience than you. No matter how long it would take, the landscape will always be there until you're ready to take a shot.

Hi,
My name is Robyn and I have been following DPS since 2007. I am married with 2 adult children and a grandchild. I live in Melbourne, Australia. I love taking surfing photos, both on the land and in the water.
I have a Canon 40D with a few lenses and two P&S Sony cameras that I use with a water housing.
I started by taking some shots of my husband and got hooked, now I go every week if I can.
Cheers, Robyn

Well hello Mr. Jones.. I too am a Jones, from a small town, and wouldn't change it for a thing... love the pic.. Thank you for the encouraging words on all you need is a body and a lens..I know those words weren't written specifically for me, but it was exactly what I needed to see. You are correct.. Along this new found journey of mine, I have found someone that made me smile. See you around. kj
