Cool Need help?

Good morning,
I am so new at this forum thing that I may need some help from the masters......
But what I need help with more than anything is why is my Canon Sure Shot point to shoot so slow? It's not only slow waiting for it to focus but by the time the camera does snap the picture everything has long gone. I have it on the fast, sports setting and I have fresh Kodak rechargable batteries in it with an extreme 1G memory card. I only take maybe 4 or 5 pictures before I change the batteries which is constantly trying to get this thing to be faster. I am not able to purchase the newer cameras at this time, so any pointers with my current camera would be so much appreciative. I did just purchase a 4g memory card hoping this will help. Any ideas?
Thank you so much.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why, given that point and shoot cameras give a live view on the screen. However, it is a common (universal) fact that one of the benefits of stepping up to a DSLR is almost instantaneous response.

Meanwhile, make the most of static subjects and try to anticipate the action (even if you end up with lots of shots to scrap where nothing interesting ended up happening).

Hi, I'm Mike. I live in Zimmerman, MN. I work six days per week and shoot as a hobby in my spare time. I like to shoot nature and cars for fun and usually attend car shows to take pics. Cars are my first passion and I have loved them since i can remember.

wow, what a great place this is. I've been visiting this site for quite some time and only today I noticed, there is also a forum! And even a vBulletin one, as I run one myself (on the football game hattrick.org though) I feel right at home.

My name is Gabriella and I'm 48 years old. I photographed as a hobby some twenty years ago and while living in the United States in the eightes I visited some courses in photography. Due to lack of time I had to give it up.

Well, now I have more time again and the urge to look at the world through a camera viewer has come back. I also find it a lot of fun to manipulate images in Photoshop, a wonderful tool I probably will never know in full. Whoever is interested in photoshop work might find it fun to have a look at my video on youtube: Photoshop works

There you see before/after images with blendover.

I'm thrilled to have found this community. Looking forward to see your works and get your comments on my work. I urge for comments that are straight forward. If a piece of work is bad, I want to know it and also, why. Only that kind of comments will help me improve my work. Of course I also like comments like "great shot", "nice" and so on. But only, if it's deserved.

Greetings from Switzerland
Deri

Hi and Good Morning.

My name is Brenda and I joined in June, but being a Flight Attendant, haven't had a chance to participate yet .. so here I am and great to meet you all and be a part.

My camera is a Canon PowerShot S3 Is. My husband says that not only am I totally dis-technical, but also dis-camera - meaning I just can't get it.

I've had my camera about 3 years and still can't get clear shots. I love to photo birds and animals - esp hummingbirds.

I have a knack for capturing the moment and feeling, but not with a good, clear shot.

Also - I cant seem how to post to a thread, i.e., Critiques. I looked and just couldn't find the "button".

I look forward to chatting with you all, getting to know you and learning.

Hi,

I'm Hari from Bangalore-India, a Computer engineer by profession, and I'm basically from Kerala-India. I love that place a lot.

My Hobbies include Aquariums, Ornithology, Music etc.... Photography is the newest addition to the list.

I take pictures using a Nikon P90 which I brought recently.

I feel this website the largest treasure a beginner like me can find where I can learn a lot of things... Thank you everyone!

Regards
Hari
