I am Bobby Mayberry. My interest in photography started at an early age. I don't remember if my first camera was a Kodak Brownie or a Polaroid Land Camera. My first 35mm was a Yashica 35ME that I bought in junior high while I was taking my first photography course.
I moved to Canon with the AE-1 and the AE-1P in the early eighties while I was in the military at Ft. Meade, Maryland. The first DSLR I used was a Canon Rebel XT that belonged to a previous employer. I now have a Canon 40D with a vertical grip, a Canon 580 EX II Speedlight and a Stroboframe Quickflip. I carry four lenses in my case; a Promaster 17-50mm F/2.8, a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8, a Canon 50mm f/1.8 and the Canon 17-85 f/4.0-5.6 kit lens. I keep the Promaster on my camera almost all the time. The Tamron gets used a lot, too. The other two, not so much. I also have two low end Sigma lenses, a 28-70 and a 70-300, that gather dust. I still have AE-1 and AE-1P cameras, lenses and flashes. I also have an adapter to use my FD lenses on my EF camera, but I have not experimented with it enough to have an opinion on it. I recently bought the studio lighting equipment, backdrops, frames and props from a short lived studio (three customers in less than a month before the owner lost interest). My sports pictures, basketball mainly, have been published hundreds of times over the previous ten years in a dozen, or so, newspapers. The most prominent being The Chicago Tribune. Other have been small town papers, mostly weeklies. I also had a photo (not sports related) bought by The Dallas Morning News. I often cover different events on a speculative basis. I go there with lots of business cards directing people to my website. These events have included tractor pulls, mud races, demolition derbies, horse shows, youth sports, school sports, pageants, etc... I also shoot weddings and special events. After many years of being a government bureaucrat, I recently became an advertising representative at a chain of small town weekly newspapers (several of them had previously published my photos). While it is not part of my job description, I provide photos at every opportunity. A few advertisers have requested that I shoot something for their ad, which I am also eager to do. Finally, as you may have noticed, I am prone to babble on and on...

Hi
My family and I recently immigrated to Melbourne, Australia. Loving it to bits. I have enrolled in a course with a photography school that starts soon. Looking forward to it, but also a bit nervous. My husband decided to 'invest' in my new career and bought me a Canon 50D for my birthday, so I have upgraded from a Fuji Finepix S5700 to quite a nice new camera. At this stage the best feature is the lack of shutter delay ![]() I can't remember if I can post links, but I created a blog to keep myself motivated to take photos more often: White Forge Photos Just delete the link if not allowed. Sorry. |

Hello, My name is Mike T. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. Have been interested in photography for a long time, but have not more than a point & Shoot camera until recently. Now I'm trying to learn all the funner things about taking pictures. I had an old Rebel EOS, and just bought me a Canon 50D since no one else would. Got tired of waiting. Then just before the economy went to #@^% in a hand bascket, I purchased some nice lens'. Thinking I may someday go to full frame, I stuck with Good Glass, cause I can always upgrade the body later. Now I'm just trying to learn how to use it all. Hope to talk to you people for advise, and chit-chat, or what ever soon. Glad to meet all of you.
