Hi everyone! I'm Wes. I'm 35 and hail from Fresno, CA where I live with my wife, 2 daughters, and 3 dogs (2 of which are puppies that we got in the beginning of March).

I am a total newbie to this photography stuff. I took a class in college (15 yrs ago) using my dad's SLR. Well, I recently got a camera of my own, a Nikon D60, and am getting back into it.

These forums and this website have been awesome in re-learning the craft. There are a ton of settings on my camera and every last one is a blast to learn how to use.

Thanks to all for everything I have learned and will learn!

Wes

Just wanted to drop by and say hello to everyone. I just got into DSLR's this past October with a Canon XSi Kit (which I now consider a gateway drug to photography). I've upgraded since then to my current setup. I've been reading and experimenting ever since. There is alot of talent on these forums, which is why I'm here. Hopefully I can be as good as some of the folks here with time...

Hello,

Names Lee, I'm 26 and have been dabbling with photography for about 9 years. I have always had a thing for cameras and photography but properly caught the bug while at college. I bought myself a Minolta Dynax 5 but soon realised that digital was probably the way forward. Since then i've bought a Fuji 2200 (small pocket thing) a Fuji S602, Fuji S9500 (notice the pattern?). Just recently i've jumped into the shallow end of the DSLR pool with the Nikon D40. though loosing some features I had on the S9500 i'm gaining other experiences before going onto bigger and much better things. My photography is not really pinned down to any type, but landscapes and abstract tend to favour. I'm usually very fastidious when it comes to my photos - if i dont think it's right it goes in the bin.

Anywho i hope i can pull up a chair get comfortable and get to know some people here better.

Lee

Hi all,
I've been watching this site for a while now and have decided the time has come to step forward and be counted. My name is Augustine and I live in Brisbane, Qld, Australia. 40 years young and living the great life. I bought my first DSLR a month ago (a nikon D90) and am both excited and overwhelmed by the possibilities this camera gives.
I have had a CanonPowerShot up until now and LOVE taking photos of anything that stands still long enough. I guess the addiction really took hold when we (myself and the man of my life D) took a 7 month trip around SEAsia, USA and Europe. I think coming home with over 8,000 photos (many really awful) might have had something to do with the obsession.
My favourite form of photography is macro (thus the handle macroMe).
This site and the people who contribute here make for a brilliant combination of information and motivation. One day I hope to be able to take the sort of photos that offer me such inspiration.
Cheers to all and catch you in the forums somewhere.

Hi everyone, this is a bit of a re-intro as I joined then disappeared while I was busy being a new mum and now am back again. I have a Canon EOS400D which I bought a couple of years ago now. My only lens so far is the Canon EFS 17-85mm IS USM and I just got a Speedlite 580EXII for my birthday last week. Have no idea how to use it yet though so am hoping to learn a bit more through these forums.

I haven't really decided on a style of photography because I love snapping everything but when I look back through my photos, I notice that they tend to lean towards landscapes and portraits.

Look forward to chatting and learning with and from you all!

Hey guys, I've been perusing DPS for a long time, subscribed to the RSS feed a while back but I've never gotten around to checking out the forums.

I got my first DSLR about 4 1/2 years ago (Canon Digital Rebel 300D) and it got me hooked, so now to the annoyance of my wife I take my camera (Nikon D80) everywhere with me. I hope to learn a lot from you guys and can tell that the forums have an abundance of good information.

Hi folks,

Im frequent viewer of Pro Blogger so naturally decided to check DPS out aswell. Im an Actionscript developer and blogger, you might wanna check out my Photoshop blog for some post production tutorials. www.psdessential.com

As for photography well... that's why I'm here I guess, im not the greatest when it comes to shooting and using all the different settings.

I own a Canon Powershot A640, it's nothing special but a decent little camera all the same.

Hi All,

I'm Richard , been in photography as a hobby for over 20 years. Went from 35mm to Medium Format to Digital (still learning) as always will be. I live in New Hampshire USA. Married with 3 wonderful kids. Ages, 4,5, and 11. 2 girls and 1 boy. My issue I guess I have, is at times I won't take pics for weeks on end, it's like I fall into a grove and need a kick to get going. But I love photography and always will. I'm been doing alot of portrait work lately and like it alot. Anyways I'm glad to be on board and I always have questions and I'm sure I'll learn more from others. Thats what it's all about, learning and having fun.

Thank You
Richard

Hello, my name is Rod, I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia and I love taking pictures. Never did it professionally but I did shoot a couple of weddings for friends, which worked out pretty good. I have a Nikon D80 and I would like to learn how to use all the bells and whistles on my camera. I really want to get serious about photography. I have a 18-70mm lens and a 70-300mm lens, both Nikor. I am a beginner and I want to move up to intermediate status and ultimately pro!
