Default Hello :)

Hi,

Just a quick intro post - my name is Leigh, I live in London and I've been taking and trying to improve my photography since buying a Nikon D80 in 2007. I have 3 lenses, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 G IF-ED DX, TAMRON AF 55-200mm f/4-5.6 and the Tamron SP AF90mm F/2.8 (Di), and since buying the Tamron I've become quite obsessed with macro shots! I would like to start focusing on other areas though, so hope to get more ideas and knowledge from everyone on here.

Look forward to seeing more of your shots!

Cheers

Leigh

Default New here

Hi I'm Bill. I have been interested in photography for a couple of years now. I was using a Fuji Finepix 9600 but just upgraded to a Canon EOS 50D. I like it a lot. I try not to do much PP on my photos as I want them to come out of the camera the way I want it to look. I do a little cropping and occasionally some color adjustments but that's about it. I do, sometimes, do some color spotting but that can't be done in the camera.

I mostly like Black and white and lately have been experimenting with long exposure night shots. I live in Long Beach and a good night shot of the Queen Mary has been elusive but I think the new camera will change that. I mostly photograph nature shots and boats. Of course I will take pictures of just about anything but I have never really been into taking pictures of people, at least not people that know they are being photographed. I also like getting shots of details of things. The sort of things you may walk by and not really notice.

I joined DPS to try and get some new ideas and challenges for new shots and new types of shots. I really like the weekly assignments idea. I think it will really challenge me to expand my creative process with my pictures.

My photos are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/billd/ and I still need to add info to my personal profile here.

Post

Hi. My name is Tina. I found this site last night while searching for some info on the macro setting on my camera. What a lot of great pictures and info! So I just had to join
My hubby and I live in a little town in the Okanagan, BC. Canada. My hubby is a truck driver and is gone a lot, leaving me time to play in my garden and wander thru the backwoods with my dogs, taking pictures. I love to go trucking when I get the chance and my camera never leaves my lap, in case something catches my eye to capture.
I love my camera and love to take pictures but need to learn more about all the buttons and settings it comes with!
My first (about 8/9yrs ago) digital camera was a little Kodak and was just starting to learn things about it when it was stolen. I then got myself a Canon PowershotA75 and busted it Last year, for my birthday, I got a Canon Powershot S5IS and I just love it! And I want to learn how to use it to it's full potential.
So I'm hoping I'll learn something here.
The weekly assignments look really interesting and want to try it out soon!
Looking forward to learning and meeting everyone!

Tina

Default Yolanda here

Hi, I'm Yolanda. I've never had any formal training in photography although I took a lot of visual arts classes in my youth. I always had an eye for color and composition. I use that to my advantage in house painting which I do professionally every few months. Mostly I do housework which suits me fine. It leaves me lots of time for creative hobbies.
I had a Zeiss Ikon camera as a kid, from my dad. When it was stolen I went without till the day I had enough money to buy my pentax K1000. I was thrilled to have an SLR because I enjoyed macro shots and now I could frame them right and get much closer to my subject. The cost of film and processing kept me from advancing much. My first Digital camera was a really cheap 1.3 mp with no settings. Point it and click. it did take silent video too, which was fun. the max resolution on that was 240x320
Then I got a slightly better one that had a couple options for resolution, 3mp and a microphone for video.
Later I got a camera that had a variety of automatic choices and some stupid things like picture frames and sepia and color tone. Whoo.... It had optical zoom that was a bit fun. I shot a lot but it wasn't that inspiring.
Last christmas I finally got a DSLR. YAY! I'd been hoping someone would make a body back that converted my k1000 to DSLR but the solution was a new body with the old lens. Naturally new lenses came fast behind it. I've got 3 so far, the original K1000 50mm f2-f22 lens, a 70-300 zoom/macro sigma lens that's fully automatic if I want, and a gorgeous, sweet, wonderful, incredible (and many other admiring adjectives) toy called a "lensbaby."
I love my lensbaby so much. www.lensbaby.com to find out about it! Mine is the 3G (aka control freak) although I'd rather have gotten the Muse if my local store carried it for Pentax. Naturally I now have my eyes on the wide angle adapter.
Finally, at age 45 I can chase my photographic creativity down whatever byways it takes me. I signed up for this school so I could understand better the tools I now have. I live in Saskatoon, SK where it stays winter long after the rest of you are running barefoot in the spring grass :-)

Default Maayong adlaw sa tanan!

*translated as "Good day to everyone!"

I'm Louie Ponce from one of the islands in the Philippines. I'm an amateur photographer who's eager to learn more about photography. I have a Sony DSC W200 point-n-shoot camera and is eyeing for a Canon 40D at the moment. I post some of my pics in Flickr, WordPress and Multiply, but the latter has more pics in it.

I've been directed to this site from an image I viewed through Google. I'm basically new here since I became a member of DPS yesterday. I'm eager to learn more through this site and the forum.

Many thanks to the moderator and the author for creating this site as a venue for all photographers to learn from each other.

Have a great year ahead everyone!

Default hi =]

Hi! my name is Beth Marie (hence my username haha) and I'm18 years old. I live in the state of New Jersey out in the country with lots of trees and gorgeous scenery.

I am not a professional photographer, nor am I taking up photography courses in college.
I just have an interest in taking pictures and would like to learn more about photography and hopefully get a really nice camera. I use a HP photosmart R967. it's pretty nice for saying it's a digital camera. =]

I went to college for one year for music but then took this year off. I'm hoping to go back for photography or art maybe next year or when I get a better camera.

I do have a flickr account, which is: www.flickr.com/photos/oxcrimsonrosesxo

So, I think that's all I have to say. =]

I've been keeping an eye out for some forums to join, as you tend to learn more from other people as well as just tutorials etc on the net. I hope i can get better at both photography in general and also post processing!

Hello! I'm Erica from Michigan. I've wanted to take photo's for a long time, but I couldn't afford film. In the summer of 2005 my father got me my first digital camera (a little BenQ). Last year I got a Canon Powershot SX100. The dial that lets me control aperature and shutterspeed is currently broken, again. Hopefully by sometime next year I can get a new camera.

so my current goals is to learn composition skills, as well as start to understand the basics of getting what I like manually so I can make a good decision on my next camera.

Besides photographing my kids, I like shooting birds, little woodland animals, the moon, nature, and just whatever hits my fancy.

Default Hello from Utah!

Hi everyone, I am Kevin from West Jordan,Ut. (it's a suburb of Salt Lake City). Born in California, grew up in Colorado, went to college in Utah, met my wife of 32 years and stayed.

I have been shooting since I was young. Started with a little Kodak, moved up to an Argus C3 then my first SLR an Argus STL100 ( still have and use that one occasionally. Moved on to various Pentax film bodies. I now shoot a Pentax K200D and use an *ist DS as my backup body.

I love to shoot different subjects. Black and White is my passion but I do color as well.

Looking forward to getting involved here.

Cheers,

Kevin
