Hi all! My name is Mia and I am a psychologist by trade, and photography is the hobby that I have grown to love over the past four years or so. It started with a book on "How to Photograph Your Children" that someone gave me when my first child was four years old, and I had a point and shoot film camera. I now have two children, lots of photography books, and my Canon digital Rebel XT. I'm loving this site and all of the great tips. I am learning a lot, and appreciate the support of so many with so much more training and knowledge than me!

Welcome to DPS

Hope you both find what you need here. It's growing more complete every day, and as you learn you can add to the experience.

Hi Nicky. I see that you are a PSP X user. I have PSPXI, and am totally confused as to how to use it. I play around but essentially get no where. Other than cropping, some curves, maybe levels (rarely). I tried this layering thing, been reading but cannot get it at all. Anyway, I am a little envious of your mastery, I saw you self-portrait (first) and would like to keep in touch. Any/All help appreciated. I love your do.... Thanks FC

Not my first post, but almost! My name is Scott and I recently received a Pentax K100D for my Bday (yes, I have an awesome Wife!!). It really is an amazing camera and I want to learn to use it the way it should be used. I have spent time on quite a few of the other camera/photo forums, but stumbled across this one and so far, it seems to be the best fit for my skill level/ learning needs. I hope that I can be a useful contributor too! Anyways, just thought I would post an intro since I will be hanging around here for the time being...

Default Y hallo thar!

Hey guys howsit goin?
My name's Tony. I'm 19, and I'm a Freshman at Ramapo College in NJ. Noone's ever really heard of it unless you go there or you're from Jersey lol. Anyway, I found this website a few months ago through I think lifehacker or some other thing like that, maybe reddit,I don't remember. Ever since I've been absorbing the knowledge like a sponge and it is very awesome!

My Gear:I shoot with a Nikon D80 that I bought around Christmas 2006ish. My lenses include a nikon f/3.5 18-70mm and my newest addition, the 105mm f/2.8 Micro-Nikor with VR, yay. Cost an arm and a leg (especially for a college student) but it was totally worth it. I also have a Dynatran tripod, which I would highly reccommend. Now to get a backpack to fit it all...

Experience: I've never done anything professional; I just like to take pictures and have fun! Last year I was the editor for my highschool yearbook pictures, but it was more like making sure they didn't put inappropriate pictures in the final draft lol..

My photos:My favorite subjects to photograph are flowers and small things (why I got the macro). But hey, I won't be shy about photographing anything :P

Hopefully I can contribute positively to the forums; looking forward to the next assignment!
-Tony

Default Newbie

Hi everyone. I am new at the blog stuff but have been reading / learning from the DPS emails for about 8 months now and absolutely love them. I actually look forward to them. I currently own a Canon 20D but have my eyes set on the 5D or even something above that; of course the household CFO has to approve. I have been doing photography for quite some time. Started during my military career 12 years ago. I recently moved to New York City and have had a couple of clients for photography to help pay for my hobby.
