Hey. I'm Sanaa and I like in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I'm 18 years old. I've been into photography since I was a kid but I was never very serious about it. I didn't have a camera for a few years except for the camera built into my mobile and it didn't really take very good pictures. My uncle got me a Samsung S760 a few weeks and I've been taking picture nonstop. I'm hoping to learn more about photography by joining DPS. (=

Hi, I'm Annette, I live in Nottinghamshire, England [yes, Robin Hood country!]
I got my first camera for my 10th birthday and loved taking pix, but at heart I must have yearned for digital even so long before it was invented! [that was 26 years ago, when was digital invented?] For one thing I kept wanting to take pix of odd things, interesting textures etc rather than people and landmarks like my Dad [who paid for the processing] expected. For another there was how looooong to wait to see the pix [my Dad would send off a batch and it would be months before you got some of them back!] So I was well chuffed to get my first digital 4 years ago, which I treated myself to as I was off to study in Norway for 6 months [it was sooo cool!] As I am a runologist [one who studies runic inscriptions, an alphabet used in northern Europe in the middle ages] I wanted a camera that would take a nice clear close up of scratches in rock and wood! I was very pleased with the one I got [can't remember the brand but I'll check if anyone is interested] but upgraded recently to a Panasonic Lumix 30mm wide angle, which I am also very pleased with. I have arthritis so I can't manage a large heavy camera, my first requirement is light with easy to press buttons, my second is being able to photograph those scratches! I'm not very techie so tend to just take loads of pix and see what works, using different settings when I remember. I like to take close ups [macro I must get used to calling it] especially of leaves or ice or anything which grabs my attention. I also like to play with the Gimp, usually sticking bits of one pic into another, so have been interested in some of the great tips on these forums. I found the site through Blurb.com, the self-publishing site which I have used to make several books of phoems [my Dad's word for a poem and photo combined] which I find a lot of fun. Well, I think this post is quite long enough now, so I'll go and carry on reading the forums and maybe even post there now I've introduced myself! I did have one question - do you have to be in flickr or similar to post a pic? I couldn't see any instructions on how to upload one from my computer? |

HI, My name is George. I just joined and want to know more about digital photography.
Currently I am shooting a Panasonic/Leica Lumix DMC-FZ50 and a Canon powershot SD850 IS. The Lumix is a relatively complex beginners camera that I want to learn how to use before buying a DSLR. Thanks for hosting a great site.

Oops I didn't look at this sticky. I'll paste what I said before
![]() I love this website. I don't recall how I came across it, but besides the tutorial bits, the assignments (haven't contributed to any yet) give me reason to go out and shoot...things to look for as a challenge. I've been taking pictures for about a year and a half and now - ok since the start - want to delve into it as a career. I've got plenty of photos, so my portfolio is overdue...I guess you could say I haven't decided what I'm offering anyone yet and holding back until I know what it is. I'm very interested in nature, landscape, black & white, and recently I've tried other styles which appeal to me so that broadens my 'seeing' and makes me very happy when I come home with photos that are not typical of what I've posted. I've wanted to join a forum oriented towards constuctive criticism for photography rather than 'i like it' or 'i don't' Errr and I am 24 male, living in Ontario, Canada near Toronto taking credits toward a Photography Studies certificate (more for history really). Anyone else go here? My flickr (on black): http://www.flickriver.com/photos/jehather/

Hi,
My name is Mike. I live in Fredonia, NY (where all the snow in the world seems to be at this time). I have been taking pictures for teh past year with an Olympus E 500. Just upgraded to a 2.8 70-200mm Sigma Lens. I am still getting ussed to it. I am hoping to pick the brains of all the Olympus users out there Mike |

Hi,
My name is Jeannine Burke, I live in MI. I am a high school teacher and I like taking photos. I currently use a point & shoot Panasonic Lumix & I like the photos I take with it. I have considered upgrading to a DSLR for about a year & I am ready to take the plunge. I like to take photos of my two dogs, my grandkids & my students at school love having their pictures taken. We are currently working on a classroom collage on one of the walls in my classroom. I'd like to do some artistic things with my pics, so I'm open to experimentation. This is a hobby for me & my budget is approx. $1,000. I like the Nikon D60, but I'm concerned that since it does not have auto focus I may miss some good shots if I have the body only. I also like the Canon Xsi kit that I can get for around $900. so any suggestions would be great. I'm excited to learn form you all! |
