Hey! I'm Jess...I've been reading the DPS forum for at least 2 years but for some reason didn't actually join until now. I recently bought my first DSLR - a Nikon D60 which I'm having a lot of fun with. I'm 26 years old - lived in NY my whole life, about an hour outside of NYC so there are a lot of great photo ops here!

I look forward to learning from everyone and making some friends who share the same interests as I do!

Hi !

My name is Maggie. I found this site in early Sept and joined up but forgot to introduce myself.

I am a SAHM of two little girls (4 and 1). I'm originally from Canada but now live in Illinois (where my husband is from).

I just bought my first DSLR in August and I am looking forward to learning from this wonderful site. Some of the work here is astounding ! I don't know if I'll ever be able to take such great photos, but I'm excited to start trying!

Hi . New to this as well (obviously :P). I've always liked photography, but never really considered trying it myself until I had to take a photography class as part of my major. I bought my first DSLR, an Olympus E-510, not too long ago. I have a lot to learn, but I'm glad I found this website to help in the process.

Hey all, new to the site and am loving going through and looking at everything. My name is Rian Malynn and I am a mom and wife. Most of my pics are of my daughter. I was hesitant about using digital, but now that I am, can't help but wonder what took me so long. I take pictures of everything, anything. One of my favorites it a b&w of a long forgotten clothes pin, on the ground in our back yard.

I have a Nikon Cool Pix L16, and I love the quality of the images I get, and the sleekness of the camera itself. My first camera was a Nikon FM10, I still have, but haven't used film in about 5 years.

Originally from Michigan and I miss all the water everywhere, I am in Ohio now, and its beautiful and quieter, but there is not the abundance water here as there is in Michigan.

Well, pretty much covers the basics. I found DPS from Facebook and a lot of my stuff is there. Give a look see if you'd like. Just search for Ryan Malynn Becker.

Thanks all. Ri

hi Everyone,

I'm Kellie and I'm from Melbourne Australia, I been kinda nuts about photography for a number of years now, I used to work in a photolab for about 9yrs.
I love taking landscapes and candids. I have several cameras (18 at last count) but the ones I use the most are my Pentax & Canon P&S, up until recently I was still using my minolta film SLR but have now just purchase my Canon 1000d (rebel for those in the us)

Default Introduction

Good day all at DPS.

I'm Moller Thompson. I'm a clinical technition. I'm from South Africa. I'm 26. What else would you like to know?

I am SO new at photography that I will need alot of help from buying a camera to start taking good pictures.

I always liked photography, but never made an effort to start doing it. This past week I really started thinking more and more about it (because its exam time and i always come up with new ideas during this time of my life). Also, another reason is that we looked at alot of photographers work in the past two months (getting married next year) and the bug bit me. Now, I want to start having fun. I will need alot of advise. especially, help on what to buy.

I've read a few blogs on what to buy, but still, I have no idea. I'm thinking of a DSLR, entry level but I'm not sure if that is the way to go. With enough help and playtime, I guess that can be done.

Camera experience.......mik en druk or as they say in English, point and shoot. So yeah, I have alot to learn.

That all for now. I'll be back soon. Have to study for my HOPEFULLY final exam tomorrow.

Cheers all.

Default I'm Arlon

Just started playing with a camera a few years ago. Enjoy it as a hobby/interest only. Work and live in Houston Texas. Basically a Nikon and manual focus lens junkie (have about 40 manual focus lenses). Love shooting old lenses.

I have not found any specific area of interest but I lean a lot towards macro shooting.

Hope to learn a little more while I'm here.

Default Hi there...

I'm Maz, from the beautiful Welsh English border. I've been using a DSLR since the early days but in earnest for the last couple of years. I am obsessed! (Like many of you on this forum I suspect!) I'm definitely coming from the artistic not the technical side, which I fear slightly; but I'm getting there I think. My biggest challenge at the moment; getting to grips with artifical lighting.
I've learnt so much from here already- fabulous resource.

Default G'day from Maxys

G'day, I'm Scott Maxworthy (Maxy) from Sydney, Australia

I've been talking photos now for nearly 30 years and have been involved in technology for nearly as long but it is only in the last year I moved beyond the basics of taking photos and started getting a lot deeper into creative photography - how to try and tell a story with an image.

My Flickr portfolio is here

I made the progression from film to digital photography about 4 years ago now and have been fascinated by the evolution in cameras since they first appeared.

My Gear - I use a Olympus E-330 and own an assortment of lenses for it. My focus is on black and white - predominately portraits and images that try and create a mood.

I'm passionate about the Creative Economy - my website and blog is here

Looking forward to learning more.

Cheers
Maxy
