Hi all, just joined the forum as I have discovered an insatiable appetite for new photography information and forums. I'm not new to photography, having been interested for 40+ years and having owned a variety of cameras over those years. Dabbled in B&W developing ang printing in the early 80s, but since the advent of digital cameras I have become lazy... I've had a few different ones, but have never had a digital SLR and now I am looking for one.
I'm currently using two bridge cams and just yesterday bought a Fuji Point and shoot F20 zoom. However... my intention is to go DSLR very soon, and the only concern at this point is the burning question: "Which Camera?". I like shooting sunset and sunrise, as well as birds, my cats, bugs and flowers. Well, really, I'll photograph anything. I live on the east coast of Australia, and I am looking forward to participating in forums. Oh yeah... Wulf? Thanks in restropect for the welcome I see there are pages and pages of posts in this thread... no way of keeping up, you'd never do anything else!

Well, it appears this is the introduce yourself thread so here goes it.
My name is Patrice. I lived in PA my entire life until about 2 years ago when we relocated to Tennessee. I am married with three kids and a husband I refer to as "The Rug". I have been taking photographs since I received my first camera at age 12 - a Kodak Disc camera. Go ahead and laugh. I do. But when I was 12 years old that was awesome and rad and I was more than pleased. So here I am. I love taking pictures! I can't stop myself. Wherever I go, whatever I am doing, I am always thinking of what a beautiful picture this, that, or the other thing would make. If only I could capture the depth of beauty...... The problem is my camera pretty much stinks. I think I have outgrown it. But being a mother, I tend to put off any purchases for myself. I still have and use my Canon Sure Shot ZOOM-S 35mm from the 90's! The camera I use now and have been since 2003 is the Sony Cyber-shot 3.2. I know, it's sad isn't it? Oh well. I have made due. The problem is this, my ambition far exceeds my equipment. And yet still I load batteries in this and the 35mm beast and shoot, dreaming my camera will morph into something I can control. Something that will allow this release of creativity unhampered and able to flow freely, excited and with passion! So I happened upon this wonderful forum. And seeing as I have never taken one single class or read one book on photography, I thought this may be a good place to start. I am looking into purchasing a new camera...finally. I want my decision to be an educated one. I need to absorb as much information as possible before I circle and tape the camera of my choosing to the bathroom mirror for The Rug to see during his morning shave. And I need to have this done before Christmas or I fear I may end up with a package of new socks and a mixing machine instead! Anyway, I will try really hard to not ask silly questions without first googling the answer for myself. I promise to not cry too hard when someone tells me my photos stink (I am more of the stick your tongue out at the person kind of gal anyway). And I promise to challenge myself with the help of this forum. There is so much beauty and creativity here that I doubt I could promise less. Have a fantastic day! Oh and if anyone is interested...... my flickr |

Hey everyone!
My name is Sebastian and i'm 16 years old. I'm a student from Germany and found this side while searching for serious tutorials in the internet. I currently own the D60 with the 18-55 kit. Although this is my first DSLR I've always loved to take pictures with my old P&S. I read the blog for while and now joined the forums to learn from other hobby photographers and get started taking better shots. |

Hi everyone,
My name is Dan, and I am about to make the leap from a P&S to a DSLR. I have had some tips from members of this forum already and have narrowed down my choices quite a bit. I consider myself a "non-photographer". It caught me quite by surprise when several weeks ago I started reading a book; "Understanding Exposure" at my local bookstore, bought it, and have been hooked ever since. I even took my Point and Shoot off of automatic!! Can you believe it? Since a DSLR is a fairly hefty investment, I'll have to wait until Christmas to get mine (at least I hope I get it). Until then, I will keep researching and reading up on photography so I can at least "talk the talk". Great forum

New here. Dabbled in photography for a few decades, mostly black and white as it suited both my colorblindness and penchant for darkrooms. I entered the digital age with a Nikon D50 two years ago and the die is now cast. I enjoy both the capture and manipulation of digital images, although I can get pretty bizarre with the colors from time to time. I like the '50, but am now ready to move up to a more current camera.
Looking forward to sharing photos and experiences with everyone here.
