Hello all
I'm Laurita, and I am a beginning photographer. I've yet to create a website or anything fancy - I do have a MySpace (only stated it this month so its not very developed). I am currently shooting with the D50 that I bought in September. I can honestly say that I'm in LOVE with it! I am currently enrolled in a class at a local community college. I've been interested in photography since I could hold up a camera. In grade school and into high school I was on the yearbook staff and for three years was the photo editor, and for one was the head editor for copy and photography. I loved it, it was a great experience. Once I graduated my instructors asked me to come back and "teach" the students what to shoot for a good yearbook photo... (read between the lines: I'm good at candids). I have also been a counselor at a leadership camp and done many of the publicity flyer's to recruit not only campers - but adult counselors. The leadership part of it helped me when it comes to doing photoshoots. I have to be in charge, and that experience helped tremendously. I aspire to own a studio one day. I've got my first wedding on Thursday, I'm a little nervous. It does take some pressure off knowing that without me they would have nothing. They are friends of mine and would not otherwise be able to afford a photographer, so my wedding gift to them is "photographer" and as a surprise I'm going to do an enlarged print in a really nice frame. Give them something to really remember. I love concert photography and if anyone has tips, books to read, equipment I should look into - anything, send me an e-mail! I'm up for any conversation! Have a great weekend!! |

Just to get the formalities out of the way... I've been shooting since I was in high school, but never very seriously until about 1999. That's when I got my first Digital, and I could finally shoot enough to really learn what I was doing wrong. But the camera sucked - those '99 models were expensive and pitiful.
My first was a Kodak DC260 and I do believe I gave a grand for it, despite its 1.6 megapixel sensor. Ouch!A couple years later I spied the Canon PowerShot Pro 90is, and thought it might be "the one." It was sure better than the Kodak, but it still had a lot of issues. Digital cameras hadn't quite grown up yet. Then I had a pivotal moment in my photography - a relative asked me to take some snapshots at her wedding. They were terrible shots, and I was very embarrassed about them. But the Pro90is wasn't really up to the low lighting conditions I encountered there. When I spied the first review of the Canon EOS 20D, I knew it really was "the one." I got mine in October 2004 just after it came out. It has surpassed my wildest expectations, and has finally got me to the point of having to think about composition and lighting instead of trying to get the camera to cooperate. The 20D will do just fine if I do my part. Between 2004 and now I've managed to fill out my camera bag with a nice complement of EOS lenses: the 10-22, the 16-35L, the 24-70L, the 70-200L, the 100-400L, and a 100mm macro lens thrown in for good measure. I started out shooting in jpeg, but I kept reading about RAW and finally decided to see what the fuss was all about. OMG! I had no idea. Somewhere in there I managed to fit Photoshop CS2 into the budget and I've been learning PSCS2 for a couple years now. I've managed to get pretty good with it, but it turns out just about everything in Photoshop has three or four ways of getting done. I know one way for each, so far. ![]() So there it is!

benttop,
When you start your museum of "Things I Wish I'd Waited to Buy" I'll send you another Kodak DC260. Pioneers: someone has to finance R&D.

Hello Everyone,
Would just like to introduce myself. My names Paul Mowat, I'm 24, engaged and hail from Fraserburgh/Aberdeen in sunny Scotland. I graduated with a honours degree in Computing for Internet & Multimedia, in June 2006 and started working straight away as full time as a programmer. I have been very keen in Photography for many years but have just recently purchased my first digital slr (Canon 350D). I've been dying for one for years but couldn't afford it being a poor student ![]() I bought my camera in August and have been reading dPs pretty much everyday since around October when I found it. I have been using Photoshop for over 7 years, so will hopefully be able to pass on some of my knowledge with all of you. I've learned alot of tricks and tips over the past few months, but hopefully I will be able to learn much more. Thats it pretty much, anything else you want to know, just ask here or pm me,

Hello everyone,
I'm Eric, I'm 17 from Cardiff in sunny Wales, UK. I've been messing around with SLRs on and off for a few years mosting taking shots of my dads buildings (he's an architect) and it's that which has recently sparked my intrest in photography. I'm about to buy my first DSLR (D40 v D50) and am in the process of making the right decision thanks to some very helpful members of this very forum. My other passion is music, and I own a small recording studio where i record bands, I also teach drums, and put up gigs for local bands and I cannot wait to start shooting some of the gigs with a DSLR. I'm a huge photoshop user, and design a lot of websites/posters/logos/branding often using stock photos, for once I may be able to use some of my own shots! I'm currently trying to decide what to study at university but while I make that decision I will be travelling the world in a gap year and taking (hopefully) millions of shots from everywhere I travel. Anyone has any advice for me, or just wants a chat - shoot me a PM as I love to meet new people and talk. ![]() I cant wait to get stuck into this forum, make friends, and most importantly learn! Oh yeh, I'm also a Mac user
