Hello,

My name is Summer Katz, I live in WA, USA. I am 25 years old and am married and have 3 daughters...8, 6, and 9 months....
I have been into photography for the past 8 years but only the last two or so have started persuing it professionally. I have a studio which is in the process of being built, right now though, I just do it by appointment and on location. I am not new to cameras but am new to post processing. So expect lots of questions on how to do things in PSPX and PSCS2....
I use a Nikon D70s and love it but would absolutely melt if I could get the Nikon D2 or even the D200...... maybe someday!!
Thanks for having such a great, fun and well educational site!!!

Hello,
I live in BC Canada! I come from the most eastern and southern corner of the province, about 1 hr. from the US/Canada border either to the west or to the east! At present, we are living in the northern part of the province and we are moving back to where we came from - sometime before July!!

I am a handicapable person and have to use my electric wheelchair when I leave home. I have MS - Primary Progressive and it took me down so fast that I ended up in a wheelchair only 6 mos after diagnosis (Mar 16/06). It stopped my photgraphy for a few years but I am anxious to get going again as soon as the snow is gone and I can get out and about! I have had some really good ideas and suggestions for approaching photography from my new perspective. I look forward to getting started! It took awhile to get to this accepting part!

I have 2 digital cameras - a Centrios point & shoot and a Konica Minolta Dimage A2. I have been interested in photography since my first 35mm - a Pentax Me which I gave to my youngest dtr a couple of yrs ago, along with all the trimmings - quite a few lenses, filters, etc. I got my first digital camera in 2000 and just kept upgrading until my Dimage A2. Now I am having fun learning how to use it! I hope I can use the tips I learn here to help me out.

I got here b/c of a suggestion from David Peterson (author of some really good digital photography books) and I can see why he recommended this forum! It looks wonderful!!

Good Afternoon,

My Name is Sean and I stumbled upon this site through just searching up more techniques. I am wanting to get back into photography as well as my flying so what a better time to start it all.

I will be roaming the site and checking some threads for tips and just ideas on what to do with my camera. I have my digital (Canon SD850IS i bought before going to Europe) and a SLR which i have not touched in ages. Hopefully this will get me out there and using it. If that is the case, it might be changed in for a Digital SLR.

Cheers 'n Beers.
Sean.

Hello everybody, I'm Duncan.

I had a go at a bit of photography about 20 years ago as my school had a club - mostly B&W photos that we developed ourselves. Not done anything much since appart from the usual point and click film and digital photos of holidays and family events etc.

My wife and I had our first baby last year and I decided that with something interesting to take pictures of I would like to get myself some better kit and started looking round at DSLRs. While I was drooling over all the (out of my price range) possibilities my wife went out and bought me a finepix S9600 for christmas - not the DSLR I was looking for but I am finding it the next best thing. Trouble is I really don't know how to use all the modes and options, my last SLR was a 30 year old hand me down and VERY basic.

Now I am hoping that I can start to learn again. Any basic advice about how to get the best from my new toy would be greatly appreciated.

Duncan.

Hi, my name is Nickie and I'm 26. I'm a wife and a mother to an adorable three year old little girl, who's name is Abby. I live in Milwaukee, WI...but emigrated from the UK four years ago. I got into photography through my dad, who was an avid photographer and was glued to the Nikon SLR he carried with him constantly. I was bought my first camera when I was six and have hopefully been steadily improving since then.

I also have a BA in Photography under my belt, but still need practice from time to time. I own a '70s Pentax K1000 SLR which is a very trusty camera and is extremely reliable. I do love my digital camera, but is sadly only a P&S with minimal manual settings. I get a few good photos out of it though.

I am currently scrimping and saving to buy my very first DSLR (probably a Nikon D40)...but until then I have my film SLR and my digital camera to back me up. I'm just finishing up my very first paid shoot, so I obviously can't be too horrible I'm just really hoping to meet some like minded people in my area who I could hang around with and bounce ideas off of

Duncan.
I have also made a comeback after 20 years (so I can relate ). WOW! It's a lot of change. I'll give you 3 tips that I have learnt :
1. don't study the manual TOO hard. It'll confuse you too much.
2. Take your camera and start shooting. The more you shoot, the easier it gets. 3. If you want to know how to do something, then go look in the manual. VIOLA!

It's not as daunting as it may appear.... It IS loads cheaper though!
