Default Myself

Hi Friends,

I am Gopal and live in Dubai. Am 43 and have two boys 13 and 9.

I am pretty new to Digital, but am a lover of Photography. I see immense possibilities to cut across all man made borders and reach out to friends and like minded people.

My kids have a point and shoot Canon and Sony and they are pretty good too.

I stopped taking pics about 4 years ago due to my work schedule and started again last August after I bumped in to DPS and also my Pentax. I chose Pentax as my earlier print cam was a Z1P and I can use the same lenses.

I see a great opportunity with the Digital cams as they are very easy to handle, manage pics, and to reach your pics to any one with the PC. Great invention indeed.

I love the articles in DPS, and Darren you have done a wonderful job of encouraging people like me participating in this great hobby.

I wish DPS and all members a Great 2007.

Kris

Hi everybody,

The name is Ethan, I am 17 years old and I live in MA. I have been interested in photography for a long time. My first digital camera was a dinky old 2.0 megapixel Kodak Easy Share. From there, I went up to the Canon Powershot S2 IS, and I loved it. I got my first DSLR for Christmas, the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, or Canon EOS 400D. I have only the stock lens, the 18-55mm, but I am hoping to expand. I love long exposure shots, they are just awesome. I have a few photos on www.betterphoto.com

I found about DPS through Lifehacker, looks like a great site

Hi I'm Leu,

I've been a keen amateur photographer for about 18 months now. Started out with my Fuji Finepix S5500.

Just last week i purchased the Nikon D50, it is a wonderful camera

I have been subscribed to the DPS newsletter for some time now. I have found there to be loads of great and wonderful tips and hints. I hope here to engage with more photographers who can offer tips and information.

Hi, my name is Paddy and I live in Peterborough in the UK. I have been playing with photography for a while mainly a snapshooter, holidays etc. I have a couple of digi cams but my main one is the Fuji S5600 which I am using to learn about the manual control before upgrading to a D-SLR at some point. I hope that by being part of forums like this my photo skills can develop (no pun intended) from a basic snapper to a basic photographer. Then I can build on the skills I need.

Hi -- I'm Debbie. I live in Florida and love photography of all kinds.

I've done indoor youth sports, outdoor youth sports, wildlife, nature, flowers, portraits, memorial and funeral services (yep -- this is really nice closure for family and friends to have photos of flowers given and family members who have not seen each other in many years) and other photo projects.

I have a professional studio set up inside my home with continuous lighting (background light box and subject light), reflectors, muslin backgrounds (extend from rail put up by my wonderful hubby -- about 7 of them 10 x 20) and one Rembrant Canvas Brown on wall behind it all (permanently mounted) and lots of neat props.

My equipment: Canon 5d, 20d, Rebel XT - Lenses 70/200 2.8L IS USM (the big honking white one - NEW for Christmas!), 75/300L IS USM, 70/300 USM, 24/105L, 28/135 (I think), 18/55 came with one of the cameras -- Rolling hard case and carry case by Vanguard to protect my babies. UV filters for all lenses -- great protection for good glass, lots of neat gadgets for saving photos on the fly, battery grips for 20d, 5d, 580EX -- etc.

Just started my bonafide photo business last October and am looking for pointers and help and a good environment to bounce ideas around with... help when I need it and to learn about other's experiences and what the best resources are for us all...

Glad to be here!

Debbie

Default Hi

Hi all,

My name is Vikki and I live in the beautiul Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, in the heart of the Cascasde Mountains in WA state. I guess I've always been a closet photographer. Just couldn't afford the conventional methods. With the onset and development of the digital camera, the world has now become my buffet which is great because I always "see" pictures everywhere I go. Now, I take my cameras with me and I don't have to say, "There's a cool pic, too bad I don't have a camera." In 3 years I have won numerous amature awards (Best in Show, Judge's Choice, Best Amature Photographer, Fair Superintendant's Award, and to me, the most important one, People's Choice.) I don't have set times of day which I find the best pictures. They happen morning, noon and night. It's being in the right place at the right time with your camera. CLICK!
