Hi!
I'm Heather, a 30 y/o former Buffalo, NY'er living in Sweden (since 1997) with my husband, Magnus (36 y/o), son Alexander (2½ y/o) and our English Cocker Spaniel boy, Rain (6 y/o). I'm a SAHM, so plenty of photography time! My fave subjects are: My family, nature, animals.... I got my first DSLR a few months ago and LOVE it! Prior to that I had various P+S cameras. My last camera was a Fujifilm Finepix s700 (bridge camera). It rocked but is NOTHING compared to my Nikon D40! ![]() I'm on Flickr, too: Click here. Take care! |

Hello
![]() My name is Melissa, i'm 26yrs old and i live in Cairns, Queensland Australia I'm a mother of 2 girls (aged 7mths and 2yrs) who does advertising/marketing part time... and HOPEFULLY university part time next year (find out in 2 weeks if i've been accepted!)I've always loved art and anything related and have been taking pics since a young age ! Funnily (well not really).. my camera had a bit of a 'shower' today and now its not working .. so being part of a photography forum without a camera should be interesting to say the least !!

This intro thread is SO long! My name is Nikki and I am fairly new at photography. I started taking photos a year ago when I was challenged to do Project 365 (a picture a day for a year - you can click on my blog link below my sig). I can't seem to put down my camera. I am using a Canon S3 IS at the moment but today my Rebel XTi should arrive from UPS and I can hardly wait. I have been getting the DPS newsletters for awhile now and finally decided to check out the forums. I can't wait to start participating here and learning all I can.

Hello everyone! =)
My name is Kristal, and I'm originally from Dallas, TX now living in Salt Lake City, UT with my husband. I am BRAND new to photography (I've only had a digital SLR for a few days), and found this forum on a google search of digital photography sites and forums. It has been by far the best resource for me up to this point. I have learned so much already by having my photos critiqued, reading past critiques of photos, and reading many of the posts on the technical aspects of photography and editing. I am SO looking forward to take more interesting photographs. I really want to speak through my pictures and learn how to tell a story with the picture, and am thrilled to finally find a good source to help get me there. =) It's very nice to meet you all and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and your varying photographic styles and techniques!! Thanks, Kristal

Hi,
Just received a Canon 350D, looking forward to getting some good advice and help from this forum. Keen to use manual settings and not just auto. I have installed some Canon software, was thinking about Piacasa. I don't want to spend alot of money on photo software BTW from the UK |

Hi Mav2006, this may be a little off topic for this thread, but I noticed your software question and thought I'd suggest the software called Aperture. I don't know what your budget is like but I hear it's great and not that expensive if all you're looking to do is sharpen, color correct, etc. I'd love to hear what you end up going with as I am looking for a smaller program to install on my laptop. I have Adobe Photoshop (not the new CS3, but the one that came out right before that), but it is too big to fit on my laptop so I'm looking for something simple to carry on that.
Good luck! =)

Amira Hi Kristal! So excited to see you jumped right in with posting here! Way to get involved. Looks like you're enjoying that new D80
.MeLFunKTion Let us know if it worked! Mav2006 Glad to have you join us! I have Picasa and use it alot. Not bad for free. There is also the Gimp (also free) which is similar to Photoshop. Photoshop Elements can usually be bought for under $100 US. I'm not as familiar with Aperture as Amira suggests, but it's certainly worth looking into also. |

hi!
i guess this is where you go to intro. yourself? My name is Pam, I live in Cooksburg, Pa. with my husband and daughter and have been taking pics forever. I was directed to your site about a week and a half ago by another site (a crafting site), for taking christmas light pics of all things, and after spending the night here i was hooked to say the least. I've learned alot. You guys and gals are very informative! I can't wait to see what all i can learn and improve on. ![]() ![]() ![]() Right now I have a Fuji FinePix S700. Its my baby and it is teaching me alot too. My dream camera is the Canon Rebel..but its out of my price range..at least until tax return comes...(i hope theres a tax return..lol) I'm 'dependant' on hubby's pay right now as i have a seizure disorder, which makes me a stay at home wife and mother. My doctors have cleared me for work, but in being upfront and honest with potential employers about it, they don't me, i'm a liability risk for them...and i can't get the disability people to listen...so right now we wait...its fustrating yes, but i get more time to 'play'...(gotta put humor in it or you don't get through...lol) But anyways, thats me. Nice to meet you all.
