Ok, so, not counting the various 365 / threesixtyfive / fiftytwo type projects that are going on (because I know you all take pictures year round...) Do you find that you take more pictures in one season than another?
Maybe you prefer outdoor events or taking pictures of flowers that aren't available in winter. Maybe you prefer taking pictures indoors or pictures of snow and other winter activitites. Regardless, do you find that you take more pictures in one season? Why? Is it because of the subject matter you shoot? Is it because your photography/creativity seems to go into hibernation right along with the bears? Are you afraid of risking taking your camera out in the cold or out to the beach? Tell us when you photograph the most in the year and why.

And I'm going to put in a quick answer here: I probably take more photos in the spring / summer. There are 2 reasons for this. First, I live very close to a botanic garden, so I seem to walk through there on a nearly daily basis when the weather starts warming up. Second, there are more events going on (and more free events!). Outdoor events seem to range from concerts to outdoor performances to parades and festivals. All of these are fun places for me to go and take pictures. Not to mention the nice warm weather makes me want to stay outside with my camera longer. Winter here unfortunately means rain and wind, and those conditions seem to make me want to pack away the camera rather than go out and find shots (or even create them in my house). If there were snow I'd probably actually take at least a few more shots during the winter!

I am a summer person all the way. I just don't like winter and cold weather.. Hmmm.. I guess I am more energized and active in summer. IMO there are more opportunities in summer due to more colors all around. Winter is just white snow everywhere..

I prefer to shoot in the warm months, but I shoot equally all year round.
This poll may mislead some people - the topic is asking a different question than the poll itself: Do you prefer summer or winter for taking photos? Do you take more photographs in a particular season? As I said, I prefer one, but shoot about equal amounts of photos in each. Pedantics, I know. But ask NASA - something as small as one or two letters can mean the difference between a successful mission and a multi-million dollar "oops"

Yeah, a bit, I'll figure out which to change.
Pre-caffeine thinking again.

I voted "no" on this one. I sometimes have to push myself to go out on a cold winter's day - but the snow gives such a wonderful sense of smoothness and simplicity to a composition that I am always glad that I made the effort. In the summer/warm weather, it's usually not an "effort" in the same way. Remember one of the best photography tips to keep in mind, "There's no such thing as 'bad weather'."

I shoot pretty much all year round. There is almost always something interesting. It does get hot and humid here in the summer months which can be miserable weather to be out in. The winters have been mild recently, but we do get bitter ones on occassion. Besides, if the weather isn't good enough to go outside, there is always something to photograph inside.

I voted Autumn/Winter on this one, for two reasons:
1. I actually prefer to shoot in spring and autumn because the weather is cooler and there's just something about the change of seasons that I love... and 2. Every winter (at least for the past few years, and since I got my camera) I go to Europe to visit with my boyfriend's family and I usually take tons of photos. This year we're going to Greece! I can't wait! |
