    Question Videography assignment

    Hi..
I was contacted by a event manager today for cover their concert live next month, during the evening.

Since , I have been been into professional videography, I got few questions.

    1. I dont think, I can use my 5D Mark 2 for their concert, since they need it for continuous 8 hours video shooting, and 5D eats around 1GB for 4 minutes full HD video. LOL!

So, what do we need for such an assignment ?

A simple Canon full HD handycam would do it or there is other level professional video camera ?

What do the movie makers use ?
5D Mark II and 5D Mark III and few lenses to get it right!

I assume from your post that you meant to say "Since , I have NOT been into professional videography, I got few questions." ??

I'm sure others will have more constructive/nicer things to say, but it seems to me you know practically nothing about videography (neither do I, not judging!) and it's a great risk to take on something for a client when you know (next to) nothing about it, especially if it's a paid gig.

I say this because the question you have, when you break it down, is "How do I shoot an event as a videographer with little/no experience and/or equipment"..

I only say this because I hope that they're not going to get screwed over by what you can/can't provide as well as what this might do for your name if (not presuming failure..but) you can't deliver what the client is expecting (which seems very possible).

Bottom line, as I see it, "what you need" is proper equipment (someone can be more specific I'm sure) and knowledge how to use it. This will include the proper lighting and sound capturing (if needed) accessories and, again, the know how to use it.

Anyway.. just my two cautionary cents, I DO wish you luck but it really seems like you're stepping into the deep end, but I hope I'm wrong.

As a professional video producer, I implore you: turn down the gig.
