Default Mashing Up Music and Photography

I am, like many of you here are I'm sure, a music LOVER. Can't get enough of it. It envokes such emotion and passion in me, which parallels with my love for photography.

Wondering if there is a non cheesy, non akward way to bring music to a shoot to arise emotions in your models/subjects? Also, curious if any of you do it?

Side note: I am stuck on gotye - Someone that i used to know. If any of you want to throw some more songs at me that are similar, I may appreciate that a bit....

Side note #2: Any of you in a great music forum? One that is purely for the fans not musicians?

I've got to say, even though I don't really do a lot of portraits, I would think that it could be tricky because what causes one person to feel one way may cause another person to feel a different way. So, say the client really liked a type of music that made me want to stick a sharp stick in my ear, that probably would not help me take good photos. Similarly, if I put on something I liked but they hated, probably won't help their expressions. I was watching the Christa Meola webinar on creative live this weekend and she mentioned that she will ask the client to bring along their music, but that she only uses it at certain times and not the whole time. Personally, it's not something I have ever done.

Thanks for the response, I did think of that too. I do like a very broad range of music so I'm sure we could find something that would motivate both sides. I do like the idea of only doing it for a couple shots, that may be a good starting point, thanks.

Anyone else?

I have a speaker system that interfaces with my iPad, and just have the model select or create a Pandora station that they like.

The Model I've been using of late puts her own music on.. Personally I don't care one way or another but if I listen to music, it'll be something rocky like Gotthard, Dave Lee Roth and Aerosmith or something like that, or perhaps something a bit more chilled out, Manu Chao or Keane or Coldplay..

I've got so much eclectic music on my iPhone it's impossible to tell a lot about me from it, except that I can't make up my mind what I like because it changes on the time of day or day of the week or weather or what I'm doing..
