Even though I know she was doing drugs & stuff for a while, I am still shocked by the news.

She was one of the most talented singers I can remember. Very very sad that her voice has been silenced. RIP Whitney, you will be missed!

By her dealer. Another good singer destroyed by drugs. Beautiful voice but proof that stars don't make great decisions. She destroyed a once promising career for what, getting high?

Such a waste of talent.

One of the best voices in my lifetime, gone =( no matter what people say about her personal life, that woman could SING! I remember hearing her sing the national anthem and it was the first time I had gotten chills (1991) from the song. Lets celebrate her voice rather then dwelling on her personal battles as we all have our own personal struggles in one form or another.

I agree, Praline! Thank you for putting it so eloquently.

It was how I had to explain it to my daughter =(
She is a singer ~ not pop but musicals and opera. She is only 10 but loved old Whitney songs for her vocal range and powerful voice. She is very sad tonight but is too young/immature to understand the hows and whys of life's struggles.

On her Ipod its the Celtic Women and then Whitney
