Default Leaving brand new DSLR in sub zero temperatures - advice needed!

I ordered a 7D from a very reputable company yesterday and it was delivered today... now that's superb apart from the fact they left in in the unlocked garden shed for 6 hours!!! Now that's not good but thankfully it was still there when I got in... however the temperature has been at zero or below all day... Surely that can't be good for the camera?!!

I've left it in a semi cold room to warm up gradually but I'm absolutely furious the delivery man would do this!!! It's a very expensive piece of kit and I would expect it to be treated with the upmost care.

I've tried to contact the company I bought it from but their call centre is closed until the morning now so have left a very angry message and requested / demanded someone ring me tomorrow.

Should I tell them I want the camera replaced, ask for an extended warranty, or am I just over reacting?

Thanks

So by the sound of things there should be no problems... however I'll still take up the issue of it being dumped in an unlocked shed for several hours!

Here's what I might do for some closure. When they ring you, be very kind and gentle in explaining your thoughts. They need to know the delivery practices the vendors they contract with. Tell them your concerns over the camera's life expectancy and nicely ask if an extended warranty "could, please, be given".

With 12 years working in call center, I've always bent over backwards for a kind customer. Just saying.

Thanks, yeah I was thinking of trying to get an extended warranty out of this... tbh even just out of principle I feel they should offer this just for my own piece of mind.

I'll do as you say and be nice to the peson on the other end of the phone as it's not their fault after all

Probably would not hurt it. The only issue is avoiding condensation when it warms. BTW if it sat in the back of the truck all day and they delivered it to you when you got home at the end of the day it probably would be at the same temperature as there typically is no heat in the back of delivery trucks.

Exactly. This more about how it was delivered. I'm shocked a signature wasn't required. I just got my T3i (small budget) and they required one from me.

If the camera was new in the box, there should be no harm done as long as no water got to it. As you did I would let it warm up slowly. Delivery people don't really care what the parcel is they just drop it off. I am surprised they didn't make you sign for it as the company you ordered it from has no way of confirming you received it. If the delivery person dropped it off in a unsecured area and no one signed for it what's to stop you from saying "I never got it" how did you know they left it there?
