Default Branding your photography question

So I know many of you do not watermark your images when posting them on the web. But, do you watermark them when you sell them to a client? For example Olan Mills or Lifetouch?

I never ever put my logo on a clients photos. I count on them saying where they got it from when people ask if they're interested.

It feels incredibly Olan Mills to put your logo on a print.. and to me that's a baaaad thing.

However, I have NO problem putting my watermark (small mind you) on any "for web use" images I provide. That way everyone that sees it on FB or any other place they share it online sees my name.

It never really occurred to me to consider branding any prints.. I've not sold many, maybe 5, but those I have have been unbranded. I put a small unobtrusive sticker on the rear so that they know how to contact me if they need, and 3 or 4 business cards in with the print.

Everything else I've shot has been for web use, and then it depends on the circumstances. 500px, I don't. Flickr I do. Websites and other things (which is the majority of my work) depends on the size it's likely to appear. Usually I don't bother, just require that my name appear on the page with a copyright, since the pictures aren't usually of a printable size..

I dont brand the front, but if I am only selling the print, then I will make sure my info is printed on the back of the print. If it's matted/framed, I place a pre-printed sticker on the back of the mat and then again on the back of the frame. Oh, and I absoletuly watermark everyting I post online, either my own website or flickr or etc...
