Default Off to the animal shelter

I was planning on sleeping in today, because I didn't have anything better to do lol. But for some weird reason, I just happened to look at my phone and there was an email from the local animal shelter letting me know there was a new litter of puppies and if I wasn't busy, they could use some pictures. So, that's my plan for the day lol. I'm trying to get more active in the volunteer community around here as a photographer.

Besides animal shelters, what types of events do you volunteer your time for? If you have the time to spare for it in the first place anyway lol.

A day with puppies! You can't beat that, even with a nap.

I'm trying to hook up with a local shelter to do the same. In the meantime, I help a local woman at her animal/wildlife sanctuary. I take photographs for her newsletter (mostly events) and scoop horse, pig, llama, alpaca, and camel poo twice a week. I move sacks of feed around too and make poor attempts to help her with her new windows laptop.

Will you be posting some of your puppy pictures?

Spent some of the day with my own dog, took a walk in a local park. later I was surrounded by lots of other dogs at the local off leash dog park. Sadly, my dog did not get to attend. He's turned into a bully who loves beating up other dogs, so until we can get him to be nice to the other dogs, he has to stay at home.

But I think I got some nice shots of others dogs today anyway. Tomorrow, I'll be off shooting some cats & dogs for a rescue group I volunteer with.

Unfortunately the adoption event was canceled at the last minute today. So I told them I'd be there next saturday. So, sadly, no pictures today lol.

Post some pics after you get done mosgood, or a link to them anyway I'm sure we'd all love to see them

Absolutely! I am still editing. LOL but will be happy to post some in SYS.

Sorry to hear your event was cancelled though. Hopefully things will go better next weekend.

The local Circus School was nearly closed down because the person in charge of it wanted to make money from it. About 300 kids attend who would suddenly have nothing to do. My step-son attends so my wife got together with the teachers and split off.. They run the place on a not-for-profit basis. I wrote their website entire website, took all the photos that appear on it, and regularly attend there to take more photos of the kids having fun.. Indoor photography with fast moving kids is a real challenge.. Cirque-Zofy

A week later, and I just got back from the local animal shelter. Shooting indoor sports can be easier than shooting high energy dogs that literally won't stay still for more than a couple of seconds at a time. I had fun though, and it was a good experience. One that I'll be repeating on a lot of Saturdays.

Today, there were no new puppies in. At this animal shelter, all the dogs are kept in foster homes so they don't have to be locked up in a cage every day and night. It was pretty slow today, most of the foster people couldn't make it and there were only 3 dogs that needed pictures taken. The few puppies that came in were adopted pretty quickly, so I never got a chance to take pictures of any of them. But the shelter is expecting a whole new litter next week, so I'll be there if I can.

Here's the pictures!
