Default Going to Costa Rica

Will take my Lumix G2, is this a worthwhile lens to buy for it? Panasonic 100-300mm f4-5.6 Lens - Micro Four Thirds - H-FS100300E - Jessops - Lenses

I only have the kit lens thus far, want to get the wildlife (may be at a distance), some views etc..

What do people think?

I'm a noob for lenses/terminology and a very amateur photographer, but what I capture is good, well I think so.

Going to bump this, lots of "views" but no replies.

Surely someone must know whether its a good lens to buy?!

I'm a Nikon guy so don't know much about the Panasonic but...
It seems like a pretty good lens. Keep in mind that your maximum aperture is f4 at 100 and f5.6 at 300.
That means that under low light conditions, like under the dense canopy, your shutter speed may be quite slow.
So don't forget the ole tripod, it will come in handy.

You would be better off with a longer, faster lens, unless the wildlife is in bright light, sitting still, and lets you get pretty close.

I've never been to CR, but know a lot of people that go there to surf. Everyone said thieves are really bad there. If you rent a car, and lock the doors, someone will break the glass just to see if there is anything worth stealing.

Just going by what I've been told.

Thanks I'll take that advice on board. We are with a touring group though so I'm sure they've taken that into consideration.

So is there a lens that would be ideal to point at shoot, without a tripod, that has a good zoom range? What would a longer faster lens be for the G2, I have a feeling there is a limited variety that can be used with it?

Thanks
