So, this morning I've been invited to join the moderation team of one of the groups I'm in, the Serbian photographers group.
I must say that I'm pretty honored by the invitation, and I will accept it. The group is pretty dynamic, lots of new content arriving every day, and lots of great content. There are 1 or 2 monthly contests (like those we have here). I was just wondering what are your experiences with moderating a group, was it a lot of work, was it boring, challenging, rewarding, anything? There are three admins right now, I would be the fourth. |

I am an admin and a moderator for a few groups.
It all depends on the group, and the time zone you are in. For some groups it can be very easy, basically making sure nobody posts inappropriate content. For others, especially busy challenge groups, it can get very hectic at times. Sometime you will get group members who can make life unpleasant, however you do have tools to deal with that. You will get to see a lot of photographs and possibly learn a few things. Over all I enjoy it.

Thanks Richard!
Yeah, the biggest issue they're dealing with currently seems to be the lack of staff to overlook and "clean" the group pool (no nudity or vulgarity is allowed) and to run the contests. I understand that it's a commitment towards the group and the rest of the staff and that it will probably be time consuming, but I think I'll cope with that. I already spend a lot of time online, so I'll try to dedicate more of that time towards the useful stuff (the group work) instead of just surfing around. Btw, what is the difference between a moderator and an administrator in a group? I suppose admins have more "power", so to say.
