I have a question I'm hoping some of you can help- I'm not sure if this is the right place to even ask. I bought my husband a celestron 4se for Christmas. He wants to use the Sony a300 to take photos with the telescope. We bought the t-mount and adapter but he still cannot take pictures. He has the camera set to manual so it fires but all of the shots come out black. This is a new world to us and I'm lost. I'm sure someone here knows all about this and hopefully can advise us on what were doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

You can always got to the Sky and Telescope web for starters.
Plus, you'll find many sites with a Google search. If you want to read a little, there's plenty of choice on Amazon. Check your local library and also try to find an astronomy club in your area. You'll find that this community is always glad to help new members.

I am not sure what he used last night but I made sure his shutter speed let enough light in today. I think he has figured out the focusing. Thanks so much for all the help! DPS has the best members!!

With all due respect to DPS and everyone here, I think you may need a different web site. I recommend cloudy nights dot com, check the forum, look for the Astrophotography and Sketching section. Here's a direct link to the beginner's section.

Thanks everyone. I knew there would be lots of helpful people to ask here. I'm just the messenger but I think he was just having trouble figuring out how to focus the telescope for the camera instead of just the eye piece. He got off some shots last nights moon so I guess he figured it all out. You guys rock! Thanks!
