Default Wow. Seriously??!!

I just received this message from our internal broadcast system. Slightly edited for obvious reasons.:

"***** This is a Broadcast message, please do not reply *****

FMU (
our Facilities Management Unit) have received a number of calls from concerned Staff Members regarding a smell of gas evident in both Buildings.

We have been in contact with the energy company Eneco, who state that this concern is not unique to our area and has been reported throughout The Hague.

They are currently trying to find the source as they have no reports of a major gas leak in the area.

There is nothing to indicate a cause for alarm at the moment
."

"no cause for alarm"?!?! Really?? You mean besides the smell of gas throughout the building!! When has that ever been good?

Oh, by the way, this building (of 1000aprox staff!) has about 10 windows total on our 5 floors that can actually be opened, the rest are closed for "security reasons"..

I've just ordered my team out of the building for a long lunch and if they don't hear back from me in 1.5 hours they are to take that as leave to start the weekend early. I've opened my window (I'm special heh).

This is one of those times when the news story has some line like "no one thought there was a problem until it was too late"... seriously.

Hopefully my posts will continue.. if not, it's been fun folks!

*rant over*

well if it comes down to it, wrap a fire hose around your waste and jump out the window just before the place blows. It will make an awesome video.

hahaha that's oddly accurate today, but not enough to affect a full building!

+1

It worked in the movie so it must be real.

Glad you're still alive. Don't do anything stupid hehe.

I'm afraid I don't understand how wrapping a firehose around your trash can is helpful, but then this isn't really my specialty.

ps. Die Hard is the platonic ideal of "Action Movie".
