Online photo contests

I was having a look through these the other night and a thought came upon myself.

"I wonder how many of these are legit"??

or are they dream them up just to make a fast buck..... i've entered the free ones before to no sucess and i was wondering about the paid ones.. are they legit or a rip-off for someone to make a fast buck?..

The thought wouldn't be that hard to resist , even for paid entry ones.. especially when you get either cash prizes or equipment as promised??. would like to hear some feedback on this wether it's been worth it or not....... heck even if i didn't win i'd love the exposure

Some are legit, some are fake, some are popularity contests, some come with stipulations like giving up the copyright to whatever photo you submit "allowing them to use your photo for free in anyway they see fit."

The biggest thing is to pay attention to the fine print. There are some good contests out there, but most of them aren't so good.

yeah i think thats why i only go towards the free entry ones... the thought of me paying to get someone else rich off my prints isn't exactly what i had in mind when i took this business on .. Also yeah i do read the fine print reguarding copyright etc.. I guess thats why i usually send a file with a watermark and if it gets to be shown then they can request another one without the watermark
