Ahh.. the confusion came where Biomech didn't quite clearly illustrate his point... The subject in question is the author (me in this case or Biomech in his case)... he didn't make that clear.

I do really see how, but so be it.
I've been paid by magazines for featured work, but if a newspaper rings me up asking for a quote or a few words I don't and wouldn't charge. This week, for example, I'll be in the paper again, I sent them a press release, I certainly don't expect them to pay me for my own promotional material.

See, this is what I was confused as to what you were asking... I don't think you made it very clear as to what was happening to whom and for what.
