prayer request for a baby

I don't do this often .. I promise!

Two friends of mine (both women) adopted a newborn baby boy last month. They named him Parker and he has been all of their dreams come true. Last week he started with the projectile vomiting so his doc changed the formula and started him on meds for reflux. Tonight he started vomiting up blood so they rushed him to the hospital.

It seems they think he has Pyloric stenosis, which is basically a blockage from the stomach to the small intestine. They are putting in an IV now and prepping him for surgery. These 2 moms are scared out of their minds right now. Their poor baby is broke and they can't fix him. So if your the praying type, can you throw a prayer little Parker's way?

I don't know two better, kinder souls then these 2 women. I feel so bad for them. This is supposed to be such an exciting happy time.

My daughter had this, although it sounds like we caught her's before it got as far along as Parker.

Today she's a healthy 2 year old who won't sleep in her bed and flops like a fish on land in ours. Hence, the reason I'm up at 4:30 in the morning.

He might be but I don't think the moms will be. That poor Doctor! He had to kick them both out of the room to do the IV as they were making HIM nervous.

They are a bit hysterical at this point. Both Grandma's are on their way to the hospital as i type this..so at least someone will be there with some experience

My wife is laid back, but in the hospital she was pretty hysterical, too. Heck, even our Minister was riled up a little.

In this age of smart phones and the like, I don't know if they are able to see this. But if they are, I went through it. Stay calm, the doctors will need information from you and you need to pay attention to what they are telling you. Ask questions. Make sure you understand what is happening. BUT STAY CALM. You won't help them help Parker if you're having a fit.

Hannah's surgery took a little over an hour. No complications. We brought her home the next day, as soon as she could drink four ounces and keep it down. Today she's as healthy as a horse.

I can't absolutely guarentee Parker's surgery will be the same. It is surgery after all. But I don't know why it wouldn't be.

All the test came back this morning and he does have the blockage. He is going into surgery in the next few minutes.


They have been sending a few photos here and there via their smart phone. The poor little guy looks so miserable with the IV with tape all over it.

Their pedatrion thought it was reflux and was treating it as such. All the symptoms were the same until last night when he started vomiting blood. Hopefully this will fix him up.
