Part of why people in general (not picking on you FG, I'm as bad as anyone on this) feel the need to jump in can be explained in this beautiful post on Gizmodo.

This has led me to question why I say what I say.
Is it simply to be right?
Is there really any gain (other than spreading the "truth")?

I hate knowing I'm a troll.
I also can't stop myself!

Well,..I know that. (Now) But he said it to me last night and I'd never heard it before. When I was googling it to make sure I remembered it right, it brought up links for Eleanor Roosevelt. She was one very smart woman.
