Default Starting a food photography blog!!

I have a new years resolution/goal to make a food dish each week. Something that I've never attempted before. I thought that during the year, i could also work on my photography and make my plates look menu or cookbook quality. If you'd like to check it out, here's the link!!

Also, ANY kind of criticism is appreciated with respect to the photos. I really want to make the images pop. Gotta find a good "food design" book as well for styling.

I make most of my living off of food photography. I just looked at the first few shots on your blog. First, work on the framing. You have a plate shot from overhead that is totally off center. If you are gong to shoot overhead, make sure to perfectly center the plate if you want the entire plate in the shot. You can center up in post if need be.

Post larger images. those things are too tiny to really even see.

First shot on week 3, whats with the extra wine glasses? You se the one, but there are the bases of others floating around the top of the shot. get rid of those.

Remember, you want the food photography to make people want to eat the food. Natural light is BEST. But if you can't use natural light, diffuse the heck out of your flash. Use exposure compensation to try and knock it down if you are getting too bright on the glares and bring the rest back in post. Overhead shots are not the best food shots. Get up in there. get all personal with the food. Show me the texture and the detail of the dish and make me taste it with my eyes. Make me say "damn! I'm hungry and want some of THAT!"

Good luck and I'll look at some more posts when I get the chance. It took me a while to get the food thing down. Now People say I shoot food porn, aka Yum-Shots. It's fun once you really get into it. Have fun with it!
